laciewhy replied to your photo post: I had this headcanon that this was the 'Halloween' issue. As a way to explain their appearances.
That could explain it, yeah! Considering how many villains have been upgraded into weird forms, one wonders if the timing of this story arc is deliberate.
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: I love the idea that even someone as admittedly messed-up as Evan gets to have a legacy of kindness because of that little act of continuous charity - and because Mrs McCulloch was kind to him in the first place, like a chain of kindness. It's a lovely idea :o)
It's actually canon! It goes back to Morrison's work (Morrison, his creator, made him far more principled than any other writer), and Johns reiterated it in his spotlight issue. And, as we've seen, he donates the money anonymously, but I like the idea that she can tell anyway because he's one of 'her' kids.
I really liked that the orphanage wasn't some Dickensian hellhole, and was actually quite nice aside from Georgie. It's a subversion from what one might expect.
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: Oh, that's just heartbreaking, if only because of how sadly common it feels. That woman is kind to Lisa, but in the end backs down and prefers praying over action - and who can blame her, since Larry Snart is a cop and thus protected by the kind of omerta we see too much of even today.
It is depressingly common. On the one hand I wanted an adult to show kindness but ultimately cowardice in the face of the abuse, but at the same time, what she faces is pretty terrifying: we all know about the kind of threat some people legitimately pose and what happens when that threat is protected by the authorities. It's understandable that Mrs. Jackson doesn't want to get involved, but at the same time she's letting down some very vulnerable children. And *they* don't have a choice about dealing with Larry. Basically, it's a horrible situation for everyone involved, except the abuser.
spellfireserpent replied to your text post: So heartwarming!<3 <3 <3
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :D
How about DeSaad C9?
Top ten pictures taken right before a disaster
So after I reblogged this post
A captain made of felt. He has googly eyes under his shades. (I'll add floof to the gloves and boots later.)
from @spellfireserpent with a tag calling Captain Cold "Sergeant Chilly" I was inspired to do a few more.
Mirror Master -> Reflection Lord
Weather Wizard -> Gentle Breeze Warlock
Heat Wave -> Sizzlin' Particle
Captain Boomerang -> Lieutenant Return to Sender
Pied Piper -> Brownied Bass
Please feel free to add more or send me rogues whose names I might mutilate
one-rogue-army replied to your ask post: If Hartley's time in Breedmore for that nervous breakdown was still canon at the time, that would also work against Hartley's case. Without hard evidence, would Len trust his word?
Good point! I didn't think of it until you said this, but at the beginning of Johns' run Len said of Hartley "Someone's hypnotized him. Made Piper more loony than he already was", which does suggest he doesn't have a high opinion of Hartley's mental health. Although that said, Johns did jettison a lot of the material he introduced in that first arc, so it's not a slam-dunk case. However, there is precedence for it, and that could definitely be a reason for him to not necessarily believe Hartley's word against Evan. Good catch :)
spellfireserpent replied to your photo post: Lol thanks @gorogues! I might like to take just a little bit before the end of winter. (And as always, your comments are much appreciated) ^u^
You can have every last bit of it, as we always have far too much and I hate everything about winter...shhhh, don't tell Len :> And you're most welcome :)
Spoilers for current comics beyond this point!
peppersandcats replied to your text post: I like to think that if Len can make ice wolves, he can make sculptures of heads encased in ice. And if the whole thing melted away and Barry realized it wasn't real, he'd still be pretty shaken (which is good for *him* not figuring out what the Snarts are up to), and would explain why it's so unimportant as to not be mentioned again yet.
I don't doubt Len can make realistic severed heads, as he claims that he can make anything real and seems to be telling the truth so far (because of Ice Heights, and definitely the giant ice wolves). I'm just questioning why he'd be so cruel to fake that to someone, even to a Flash, and that really bothers me. But I’d be happy if the question is answered to my satisfaction, so I sure hope it is. For all I know, maybe Barry is in on it as a way to stop Luthor and Perpetua. That could be a pretty cool twist.
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: Mick's last line... yeah, I already loved this snippet but it surprised a laugh out of me :D Great snapshot, I always love these two when they stop fighting each other and back each other up against the world!
Thank you, I'm so glad that bit worked out :D And agreed, while I do like their frenemy aspect, I've got a real soft spot for when they've loyally got each other's backs and take care of each other.
spellfireserpent replied to your text post: Gotta love motivational, supportive Mick <3
I do too! That's him at his absolute best, and I always enjoy seeing it :) The Rogues are villains and I love villains, but I still can’t help but root for them to be as good as they can manage to be. Some of them are better at it than others, natch.
one-rogue-army replied to your photo post: ...never use that word again, please?
It is pretty horrifying, and so's that cleavage :O
belphegor1982 replied to your photo post: ... dare I ask exactly WHERE Barry has his hands?
Oh my, Wally 😘
one-rogue-army replied to your photo post: @belphegor1982 -- don't ask. Just don't ask. ;)
Wise advice! It might be better not to know :>
g0ldenglider replied to your photo post: James 'Just a prank, bro' Jesse
At least this one's harmless as pranks go! James ends up looking the most ridiculous of all of them :)
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: Oh my god XD I feel for that poor woman, I really do. At least she didn't trip on a rubber chicken blowtorch!
Oh no, that would have been the end for everyone :D
spellfireserpent replied to your text post: Omggfgf! I lost it at Mick and Alvin's shenanigans! And the whole time I was thinking "if she meets Digger, she'll be 100000% done," and you delivered! XD Awesome work!
Haha, thank you :D All the Rogues have been sketchy or filthy at varying times in their lives, but Digger's one of those you can reply on to be a disaster. Mark should have made sure he was busy off-site during the visit!
purplecyborgnewt replied to your photo post: Eobard: "Get out of my way, everyone, I shall be in the first row, among the Flashes!"
That's our Eobard -- he knows his worth!
secondratevillain replied to your photo post: I like Lisa's chunky diamonds :D
Yeah, there's definitely some neat and creative designs in there! Some aren't how I'd personally choose to redesign them, but I like that the artist took a lot of risks and made things very different. It's unique and really interesting to look at.
spellfireserpent replied to your text post: Lmaooooo
Haha, thank you :D
spellfireserpent replied to your photo post: I love how Len and Axel are like "Whaaaaat!?" and "Huh???" But then Evan is just like "... No. (=_=) "
Evan's face really makes that scene :>
one-rogue-army replied to your text post: This is *so* James! :)
Thank you :) I think James is at his best when he's fun (even if his gags go wrong sometimes, like the way-sticky cotton candy), so I wanted to feature that here :)
parkakingrolo replied to your photo post: Do you know where these were available?
Some are on eBay, but there's an entire site dedicated to them called LeYiLeBrick. There are other Flash villains available that aren't posted in the photo, like CW Top (she's called 'Pinnacle' and is still available), and you have to search around on the site for what's still in stock and what isn't. Roscoe's sold out and has been for a long time...I don't know if they'll ever make more, but he's been out of stock for quite a while so maybe not.
Another site is Minifig-factory, and that's where you used to be able to find New 52 Lisa. She's sold out now too, but I still see her on eBay.
belphegor1982 replied to your text post: That's spot on JJ and Hartley, and I *love* the noodle incidents :D
Thank you very much, and I'm so glad :D
