oh. kairi’s eyes go wide, soften, and she smiles at aqua with something akin to GRATITUDE. “ you don’t have to do that, ” she starts, protesting, but the relief in her tone is evident. the nightmares have been sporadic at best, but DEVASTATING when they make themselves known to her subconscious. and kairi would feel guilty about aqua being a comforting presence if she didn’t know that aqua was having the same problem, if not more so. ( she’s sure aqua thinks she’s doing a good job of hiding it, and she is, but there’s a lingering bond of LEGACY between them that means kairi is a bit more adept at reading the keyblade master’s emotions than most. ) the redhead lays back down, one arm bending underneath her pillow to prop her head up a bit more, giving her a better look at the other woman. it still shocks her, sometimes, looking into the same face she remembers from her childhood. she never aged a day, and if the thought makes kairi feel empty and hollow, she can only imagine how aqua feels. “ you should get some rest too, ” she finally says, nodding at the couch along the wall, yawning mid sentence, warping the words. “ we can keep watch. take turns. ”
