2015 SPENW Scholarships
The Northwest chapter of the Society of Photographic Education will award a total of four scholarships for 2015. Two scholarships will be awarded to student SPE members, in the amount of $500 each, to assist with travel expenses to attend the 2015 SPE National Conference in New Orleans. Two scholarships of $500 each will be awarded to SPE members, for either travel to the 2015 SPE National Conference or to use in the completion of a personal photographic project.
Scholarships will be awarded based on the merits of the submitted portfolio, artist statement, and vitae. Ideally, submitted works should demonstrate creative and innovative use of photographic techniques, in addition to a strong underpinning of concept and content. All lens-based technology is eligible (including video), as well as photo-based cameraless technologies.
ELIGIBILITY:
All applicants must be current members of SPE or become members in order to accept the scholarship. Visit www.spenational.org for membership information.
Applicants for the student scholarships must be currently matriculated students enrolled at a post-secondary institution as an undergraduate or graduate student majoring/concentrating in photography, not graduating before attendance of the 2015 SPE National Conference in New Orleans, March 15.
Applicants are not eligible to receive the same award for two consecutive years, and cannot receive two awards in one year.
Applicant must be a resident (or have lived a minimum of 1 year) in one of the SPENW regional states, which include Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming

This year’s jurors are Dennis DeHart, Ira Gardner and Melissa Rackham.
NOTIFICATION:
Scholarship winners will be notified on March 1, 2015 and will be presented a check for $500 at the scheduled regional meeting at the national conference.

For the Student Scholarships:
Must be enrolled in at least 1 photo class at your current institution and provide a copy of class schedule and school ID.
Artist Statement of 300 words or less, including a description of processes used
Formal letter of application of 300 words or less including involvement in SPE and statement explaining why you should be awarded this scholarship.
