Day 1 - Bangkok - Nails, Markets and Spewbugs
After much needed showers we went and enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast at our hotel. First thing on our agenda was to go get our nails done - as suggested by the DB rep, so off we went to the cutest little nail salon down the road. Both Mum and myself got a full set of gel polish nails for 350 Baht ($13 NZD) totally worth it. After that we decided to go check out the markets and went for a walk. The heat was really starting to get to me and I started to feel rather unwell. While going through the markets I wasn't starting to feel any better besides drinking copious amounts of water. Luckily there was a super mall with air conditioning - was so thankful for that. It was there that I became even sicker and started spewing. We continued to look around the mall with trips to the bathroom every 30 minutes or so so I could be sick. I finally got to the point where I had had enough and we made a dash back to the hotel, with a stop in at the Starbucks for one last spew and blast of air conditioning, luckily the hotel was only a 10 minute walk.
Once back to the hotel Mum jumped on Facebook and found out that my whole family back home were sick with a 24 hour spew bug ! Not the best thing to have when you are booked in for surgery in 2 days.
I spent the rest of the day and night in the hotel, not being able to eat anything and only wanting to sleep, only waking up to be sick.
