Day 3 & 4 - Bangkok - Boob Surgery, recovery and discharge
Todays the Day - surgery day !!
Got picked up from hotel at 9am by the hospital van, for appointment of 10am @ Triya (Beauty Therapy next to hospital).
Have consultation with the doctor performing surgery - here we chose size and what will look best. As I had uneven boobs (20cc is common difference for most people) I got 325cc in the left and 305cc in the right both round silicone implants. Doctor also discusses incision - I chose under the breast incision and implant placement under the muscle as I wanted a more natural look. The Doctor then draws on the markings for surgery.
The nurse then puts in my lure in my hand and takes blood, as well as checking my blood pressure and temperature.
I also pay here for surgery which is a total of 99,000 Baht ($3600 NZD)
We are then taken over to the main hospital in a little golf cart (it is about 12 now) and I am taken to get my X-rays, then off to my own room where I will stay til surgery and come back to after.
Here I am hooked up to fluids through my lure. The nurses come in every hour to take blood pressure and check temperature.
My surgery was originally suppose to be at 2pm but was moved to 6pm.
The nurses speak basic english and are all very friendly and look super cute in their little uniforms and do everything they can to make sure you are comfortable.
At 6pm the nurses come in and put me onto the bed and wheel me off to surgery. I am wheeled into operating room 3, where there is a team of about 8 nurses to accompany my doctor. My arms are tied gently to the bed and then the anaesthesiologist tells me to breathe slowly as I will now be going to sleep, I literally blink and the surgery is over.
I am wheeled into recovery room where I will spend the next hour or so where the nurses can keep a close eye on me. I am given morphine so don't feel too much pain, my chest just feels heavy and I have to take small shallow breathes, I keep coming in and out of sleep but not to much pain or discomfort. The nurses give me water as my throat is very dry and soon I am wheeled back to my room.
It is about 9pm now and I haven't eaten in over 24 hours - I am not too hungry but nurses want me to eat something so I can have my pain medication, I managed to get a banana down.
I don't feel too bad just sleepy - hooked up to morphine so feeling pretty happy actually.
I am usually a tummy sleeper so found sleeping on my back rather uncomfortable and spent the night watching tv with an hour or so nap every now and then.
The doctor came in in the morning after my surgery and checked my stitches and placement and everything seemed ok so I would be leaving at about 2pm that day. She put waterproof plasters over my stitches so I was able to have a shower then spent the day watching movies and tv shows (only about 4-5 english speaking channels) and told me that a nurse will be in later to measure me for my compression bra (helps the implants settle).
Was measured for compression bra and paid 2180 Baht ($80 NZD), doctor advised that I will have to wear this everyday and night for a week and then after that can wear tight sports bras, after about 6 weeks I can start to wear normal bras again.
At 2pm the nurses came in and gave me my medications (Clindamycin - antibiotics and Tramadol - pain) and checked me out, a DB driver took us back to the hotel. We checked back in and Mum went across the road and got us some dinner from our fav little thai restaurant and M&M's and ice-cream from the 7/11.
