best and worst spf lip balms

as an outdoor girl and fragile skin angel.

sun bum spf 30 with flavors: the flavors are gross. if you wear sun bum as a sunscreen the aroma strength of the banana one will make you believe you missed while applying sunscreen on your muzzle and accidentally got some in your mouth. also stiff/waxy enough that it doesn't seem to lay/stay on your lips that well

burt's bees spf 8: waxy as fuck and completely desiccating, as i've found all burt's bees products to be. and you don't even get decent spf after all that. smh burt's bees sucks so bad

carmex spf 15 cherry flavor: this is my secondary option as a daily driver. it's pretty greasy and somehow it doesn't make me feel protected, psychologically. but the flavor and smell is inoffensive and 15 is pretty okay. also the screwtop tube means that even if it melts in your pocket it won't disappear into a greasy pocket stain, it'll just be liquidier. just be prepared to reapply every 15-20 min or so

aquaphor spf 30: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO suckin on chemical petroleum sludge a mouthful of sunscreen like your momma slapping you upside the face with a palmful of coppertone. if you dont have a tongue or can otherwise tolerate/ignore wretched flavors it's fabulous in every other particular of texture, moisturization, and sun protection but DONT DO IT DELILAH

nivea spf 15 unflavored: this used to be my shittt #MyShit an absolutely lovely absolutely flavorless and nicely moisturizing experience that lasts pretty long long enough for me to sometimes lose the sheath anyway. but they changed the formulation. if the aquaphor is 10/10 for awful sunscreen taste, nivea used to be 0/10 tasting but is now like 3-4/10. but it's still what i go fore at the drug store... this is the plain black undershirt and jeans of the spf lip balm world

oralabs essential lip naturals spf 15 (pictured in vanilla bean but they have others): my friend :-) my pal :-) once friendship soured with nivea this became my guy. you only have to reapply it every hour or so, it sits nicely on your lips where you can feel the sensation (it's still on there doing its spf thang) but it's not at all waxy OR greasy, distracting, or unpleasant. niceys smell, almost imperceptible sunscreen flavor. the only bad part is that i have only thus far gotten it in the treat bag from bae's dentist (i steal it from bae hehehe) and i use it up SO fast that i then have to go back to nivea. but i hear they make it in big sizes and i suppose one could theoretically buy such a thing at the store
