The closing of a door:

I try to burn a candle that hits my fingers

Sharp, quick

Clumsy limbed

And in a bath I almost drown

A desperation to encompass myself in the soft salted water

To feel like I’m loving myself

Like fingers crawling over my own skin

Plucking chemical spikes when they pinch

And realizing it’s better off silent
