It had been a long night and Husk felt like he just needed somewhere to decompress. Somewhere that was a little less loud and bustling than the bar at his own casino. Which was why he had excused himself from the place for the night. Trusting that those who worked under him would be able to handle things in his absence. He had a thing with them, despite the whole lot of them being soul bound to work for him, if they did what they were supposed to - then he would treat them right. The only real reason he had their souls to begin with was because a majority of them had bet against him and lost. Husk himself wasn’t one of the big power pulls when it came to the other Overlords. Sure, he liked having the power and liked having his own place and wealth. Things he didn’t have when he was alive. It was nice. But he wasn’t hellbent on climbing the ladder or anything like that. Doing just enough to maintain his place as an Overlord. Although, he did enjoy playing the game, gambling. It wasn’t his fault if a sinner wanted to bet against him because Husk never lost.
Every so often though he needed a little break from the hustle and bustle of it all. Finding that he needed a quiet night to himself to relax. Especially whenever someone would get rowdy at a table or with him for losing. It never mattered though, the rules were the rules. Regardless, in order to shake the stress he had found himself at a quiet, less crowded bar. Ready to settle down for the night with a drink and some easy going conversation or maybe just to sit alone and listen to the music that quietly played overhead. Husk sat on his stool, a glass in one hand as he leaned on the bar. The golden bowtie he wore was loosened and hanging around his neck. He’d also taken off his jacket and set it down on the stool beside him. Figuring it may be a little less intimidating if he was dressed down a little bit.
Although The Gambling Overlord wasn’t exactly feared, unlike some others. The biggest reputation he had was that whenever he was making a bet, it was for keeps and he never lost a hand. Which meant that no matter who sat at his table, he was guaranteed to win their soul. A fact that Husk never hid from anyone, yet some souls still believed that they could beat him. That’s how they always ended up working at his casino. He felt that he was fair enough to them. Once they lost, he gave them a place to go and treated them right so long as they didn't try to steal from him or anything. If anything, he felt that those who lost against him were lucky that it was him they ended up selling their souls to and not one of the other Overlords. Some could and were pretty ruthless, or so he had heard anyway.
He drained his glass and after setting it back down on the counter, tapped to get the bartender’s attention. “I’ll have another and keep them coming.” He stated.
An alcoholic in life, this habit had followed him into his afterlife. The best part of it now though was that it didn’t matter how much he drank anymore. He could drink all day long and not have to worry about dying from alcohol poisoning. The very thing that had taken his life to begin with. Husk didn’t really drink enough all at once to get sloppy drunk anymore though. Having a few drinks throughout the day, there was enough time between when he drank and he didn’t that he wouldn’t really get more than a rolling buzz off it. He didn’t really have the desire to be totally trashed, anyway. He’d spent way too many years drunk to care about doing that now that he was in the after life. Besides, he didn’t hate how things were right now. This was really just one of the things he did in his free time if anything or else to try and unwind after a long, busy and chaotic day. It seemed that he wasn’t the only one though. The bar wasn’t empty.
One in particular caught his attention. Golden eyes sliding over to his left at the sinner nearby. “Must’ve been a long day,” He commented to the other. His attention moved away from him as his newest drink arrived. To which Husk took and sipped from it before he went on to add, “Ya don’t really look like the type to visit a place like this. No offense.”
Because the bar in place gave more of a dive bar vibe than something like a night club or anything like that. It’s dark atmosphere and soft music, certainly not anything like the upbeat energy or vibe of a club. And just based on the looks of his newest company, he didn’t think he would visit a place like this. Not based on how he looked, anyway. Then again, Husk didn’t know him so maybe this was more his speed. Being a gambler and a card dealer though, Husk was fairly good at reading people. Not to mention he’d been a bartender in life, so of course he knew what to look for whenever people came around. And this guy? He definitely didn’t seem like the type that would walk into a dive bar. Not unless he was looking for a change of scenery or something.
