How did the recovery process for your spinal fusion surgery go? Do you take painkillers for your scoliosis?

I’m probably the worst person to ask because I did everything my way lol BUT I had an intense week in hospital & then spent 6 weeks doing minimal activity except for a walk. I would go on a walk everyday from about 10 days post-op. I was on pre-scribed medication for about 6 weeks then I went cold turkey.

I don’t take painkillers now (mostly because I don’t need them) if I do a lot of exercising (this is subjective though, I’ve not been able to reach my physical health pre-surgery since correction yet & I’m 10 months post-op) then I sometimes take some over-the-counter ibuprofen 500mg.

Everyone’s different & I know thats a bullshit way to end this but it totally depends on: age, physical health & determination!

so lily came over & i was so grateful, she’s a friend who i’ve grown closer to all year & its made me super happy that she made the effort to come all the way over from milton keynes to see me. we chatted for hours & really helped each other through some stuff.

libby also came to see me & there is nothing better than your oldest friend, who supported me through some of the hardest times in my life - for my mental health - & she made me brownies & brought me lemonade. we were able to talk, catch up & give each other prep talks about different things like uni, relationships, friendships, everything. i loved it. she’s a girl i’ll never get tired of seeing, loving & being associated with.

so dad washed my hair.....

because of the nature of surgery they had to break 2 of my ribs on my right side & currently i haven’t gained full movement on that side, especially my arm which makes it virtually impossible to wash my own hair which is something that i wish i could do. So... Dad had to come in & put shampoo on my hair because i couldn’t do it. he said & i quote “are you 20 or 20 months, god this takes me back.” i have to say it was a bizarre little moment.
