What spine labels, printing methods, and protectors do you recommend?

We have enough books (~500) in our non-fiction collection at home, that I want to label them properly — and LONG LASTING — with DDC call numbers. I tried some Dymo thermal labels, and they faded inside of 9 months. (They were old-stock labels, in case that was the problem.) We’re using Libib to catalog our collection, if any label workflows tie into that.

Started cataloging board books for PreK..using BOB as the designation in call number. And purple labels for easy identification! Haven’t figured out where/how to keep them yet.

N64 Spine Labels Available On Etsy

One enterprising Etsy entrepreneur has hit upon a fantastic idea, spine labels for N64 game! For only $20 you can purchase a complete set of spin labels for every single US released N64 game.  Here is the description listed on their Etsy page:

I got a request for a post on the spine labels I’ve done for my NAOMI GD-ROM’s. Never really thought anyone would be interested in them but wrong I was :P

I use a Brother QL-570 label printer and design the labels in Brother’s P-touch Editor. It’s got an express mode and a pro mode. For doing your own designs Pro mode is preferred. The GD-ROM spine measures 184 mm x 12 mm (H x W). Even though there is a 12 mm wide roll I use a 29 mm wide roll for printing the GD-ROM spine labels. The reason being that the QL-570 wants a bit of margins on all sides. For this reason I’ve also made the label 187 mm long.

The spine labels on our Thomas the Tank Engine early readers say "THOMAS THE TANK".

Personally, I find this both potentially misleading and a bit unnerving.
