A carefully prepared off-spinner R Ashwin profile on the global as well as the IPL level, Ashwin didn't simply carry his off-turn ability to the Royals, but his receptiveness to trial and error and the eagerness to exceed all expectations. While he had a lovely trip with the ball, his batting made an imprint this season. 191 runs - the most elevated he's scored in the IPL, a lady fifty and supportive appearances at advanced batting openings, and the very first 'resigned out' throughout the entire existence of the competition - Ashwin was all over the place.
