lolllll i mean ig to be "fair" it's not quite on the level of konaka or j/kr* lol, it's more like.......mcu captain marvel level of bad politics but if the slant was "what if the colonialism we did was actually fine, and not colonialism" (from what i can gather). which on the one hand, it's less stressful and embarrassing for an artist to not be aggressively unhinged and spouting egregiously bad takes online, in public. on the other, the ambiguity of the dog whistle in the layers of speculative fiction makes it trickier to spot (which is why that post is clarifying in the first place bc for as much as the storytelling direction might have struck me as weird, i also wasnt putting the dots together in that fashion). in some ways that leaves more room for recovery, if possible, for an ongoing narrative but it's also like....how much of this is even tolerable? or is worth being optimistic about?
*i realize ur point was abt fanfic which may or may not be more subtle abt hiding bigotry and revisionist history lol, but hard to ignore the elephant in that room
