BLVD (Manchester) – December 2019

Head on to BLVD for a variety of different cuisines

Tucked away in Manchester and classic RnB songs bringing back the memories of Usher’s smooth, sultry tones, BLVD (Boulevard) gets you in a calm, frame of mind to enjoy the food. The restaurant is inspired by the New York meatpacking district, which receives fresh food from around the world and all these different flavours have been brought to BLVD. It provides a variety of items, from Japanese, Mexican and Chinese - a nice, combo of items. When people mix different cuisines, it sometimes doesn’t pan out well, but not the case for BLVD. At night, it turns into a popular cocktail bar so time your outing appropriately

They are offering 50% off their A-la-Carte menu throughout January from the 2nd, from Sunday-Thursday - all you need to do is book in advance with the code ‘BLVD50’. It’s a little on the pricier side, so it’s definitely worthwhile trying it out with this offer.

It was a mixture of dishes for us, including;

Baja Seabass Tacos [£7.50] - The sweet fruit with the seabass fo really well together, and the pickled mango comes across delicately. Small-bite sized goodies and this was our ultimate favourite

Spicy Black Bean Shitake (v) [£6] - More subtle flavours, and good for those who are less adventurous with their flavours. The beetroot gave it a nice touch

Vegetable Tempura (ve) [£9] - Oh my, what big pieces they were. This was how we like it with more vegetable than batter, and makes it easier and lighter to eat

Futomaki (v) [£6] - The portion size was good, and nothing bad to say about this. It was vegetable sushi

Sticky Seitan Ribs (ve) [£16] - This intrigued us with it being vegan and sticky ribs, so we had to give this a go. Sticky, sticky and such good flavours though the Seitan (wheat gluten) was a bit too chewy for our liking

Boulevard Fries (ve) [£4.50] - Chunky monkey chips! With salt & pepper & spring onions. You don’t really see chips as chunky as this nowadays so yes, please and thank you very much

And a ‘Soho Girl’ [£5] mocktail to complement - Strawberries, pineapple, orange and lime providing a nice combo of flavours though a little too icy making it watery quickly.

Even though we were so full by this point, we had to try the Warm Chocolate & Peanut Butter Skillet Brownie [£5] - Warm and gooey with actual peanuts in the brownie, and topped with ice cream you don’t even realise you’ve ate it all until you’re looking for your next bite.
