book that was surprisingly good:
HEIR APPARENT by Vivian Vande Velde. a girl gets dropped into an rpg fanfic style. WAiiit scratch that, Soulless by Gail Carriger. I’m not sure how I ended up reading a steampunk Victorian romance novel, but the gay vampires and lesbian inventors. quality takes a deep nosedive after like book 2.
the worst book you’ve read
awful awful tie between The Year of Our War and Gojiro. The former I forced myself to finish, feeling betrayed the entire time because Miéville left such a glowing review. the latter i think threw away disgustedly like five pages in?
i’m sticking with my trend of being incapable of giving just one answer. In all honesty, Papa D from Pet Shop of Horrors :(
What the fuck is a villain? Um probably 29 Barton from White is for Witching. sorry you didn’t like this one lol
EDIT: What the fuck was i thinking it’s Francis Dollarhyde from Red Dragon!!!
favorite historical fiction
can we pretend The Secret of Dragon Home is based at all in history? No? honestly, this is not a genre i seek out much nowadays, so you get some of my childhood favorites: The Star of Kazan, Heidi, and Catherine Called Birdy
