People have been freaking the fuck out.

Frankly, you’re not sure what the issue is, or why everyone’s been all in a tizzy over what seems like...nothing. Well, okay, it’s obviously not nothing, but Terezi’s got you thinking this place is all up in flames on a good day, so whatever’s happening now seems pretty damn calm in comparison.

You’re drinking a bubble tea and walking down the street, listening to a playlist, when a familiar shock of orange curls catches your eye and you freeze. Merida. A smile ghosts over your lips and you jaywalk to catch up with her, ducking your head down close to say hey.

     ❝sup.❞ You flash her a grin, all teeth. ❝didnt expect to see you on this side of town. you got plans?❞

And then, bumped forward by a passer-by, you make the mistake of touching her hand with the edge of your own.  ❝my bad.❞ Because you don’t think anything of it. Because you won’t recognize the consequences for a little while. ❝didnt mean to get up in your grill there.❞

     Jason knows he can’t assume other people can’t defend themselves in this place; hell, he’s hardly capable of defending himself without any of his powers or strengths. Still, if he sees someone being pursued by a dangerous-looking character, he’s not going to sit idly by and let them walk away.

The redheaded girl might not know she’s being followed; maybe she does, Jason can’t say for certain. Either way, she’s being followed and his recklessness compels him to step in before stuff gets hairy.

Jason clears his throat in a way that might be perceived as dramatic and narrows his eyes. ❝Is there a problem, here?❞
