Stages of the Doorkeay relationship in my Distortion!Gerry AU (Michael's perspective)

1. Interesting stranger.

2. Friend.

3. Oh... I think. I think I'm in love.

4. Guilt. Heartbreak. Raw grieve. "It should've been me, it should've been me, it should-"

5. Scared of the thing wearing a distorted version of Gerry's face. But guilt and savior complex are stronger.

6. Scared, but guilty and with savior complex + there's a lot of Gerry here, actually, not just the face.

7. In love but scared of Gerry deciding to kill him.

8. In love, scared (not of longer of Gerry hurting *him*, tho, but of the other things Gerry does) and realizing, horrified that he's ruined. Some part of him still wants a normal life, but he realizes, horrified, that if some day he escapes from the nightmare, everything will feel dull, boring, underwhelming.

8. Madly in love. And plainly mad.
