Spirit keeping house rules are VERY important, I have learned this from the wonderful witchy minds of tumblr. Since I started to become interested in spirit companionship, I decided to come up with my own house rules (mostly stolen from other House Rules posts).
1.) Never harm, scare, unsettle, or show disrespect towards myself, my significant other(s), any member of my family, my pets, or any welcome household guests/ visitors.
2.) Never harm children or animals.
3.) Do not feed, or leech energy, from my family, my pets, my guests, or myself without explicit conscious permission.
4.) Do not show yourself to anybody except me, unless it is an emergency and you are trying to help them. If you must show yourself, make sure the form you take is family-friendly and will not scare or unsettle anybody.
5.) Sexual contact is only welcome with me, when given permission. Sexual contact is not permitted with anybody else.
6.)No physical manifestations at work or in public, in front of anybody but myself. Coworkers, clients, customers and passerby are not to know of you.
7.) Protect yourself at all times. If a problem arises and I can help you, let me know and I will do what I can to assist you.
8.) Do not hamper with communication. Unless it is extremely important to know right away, I ask that you wait for me to finish what I was doing first.
9.) Do your part for the highest good of the household, including all spirits, entities, astral beings and other beings that are welcomed into my home. All people, spirits, entities, astral beings and other beings will work towards living together peacefully. Bullying will not be tolerated, if you have a problem, contact me to discuss it.
10.) We work as a team, with me being the leader of that team. If you have suggestions, let me know. If you have concerns or are unsure of my wishes, ask me or look within.
11.) Never lie. Do not pretend to be someone/something that you are not. Do not make anything up to make someone else “look” bad, or cause somebody to get the wrong impression of them.
12.) Never twist my words.
13.) Disarm any malicious magick that is sent my way by somebody/something else, or is around by circumstance.
14.) Disarm or get rid of any negative energy or beings that are in or around my house. If you want or need any help with this task, please let me know, and I will do what I can to assist you.
15.) Keep watch over my property and always be ready to act against any pending issue.
16.) Help identify any possible conflicts or problems. Help me to judge the character of any people/spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings that are around us.
17.) No beings of any kind may play tricks/pranks/jokes on anybody in my household, including myself, my significant other, any member of my family, any welcomed household guests/visitors, or welcomed spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings.
18.) All beings (spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) should remain open to me regarding their needs, wants, and desires. I will do my best to facilitate these things.
19.) Never exploit any gaps or loopholes in my rules.
20.) If you discover any gaps or loopholes in my rules, bring them to my attention so I can correct the issue.
21.) No being (spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) may interfere with my magick workings, unless it is to protect myself, or anybody/thing in my household, including my spirit/entity/astral being/other being household.
22.) Do not break any expensive, important, or emotionally significant items. This includes items belonging to myself, any members of my family, my pets, my significant other(s), or any spirit/entity/astral being/other being.
23.) Remain true to your own identity and character/personality.
24.) Nobody (this includes spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) is to start conflict of any kind in my household or on/in/near my property.
25.) No being of any kind (including spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) may interfere with my personal relationships, including those in my spirit/entity/astral being/other being household.
26.) You are encourages to inform me of any malicious intent/magick sent my way.
27.) Nobody (including spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) are allowed to manipulate or possess myself or anybody else (including myself, my significant other(s), my family members, my pets,my household guests/visitors, spirits/entities/astral beings/ other beings) for any reason.
28.) No being of any kind may enter bathrooms or bedrooms when they are in use, unless specifically and consciously invited to do so.
29.) Any being of any kind may give me advice or their opinions as they see fit.
30.) Anybody (spirits/entities/astral beings/ other beings) may request special/more offerings/gifts as they see fit, however I will give them at my own discretion.
31.) No beings of any kind (spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) are allowed to invite unknown beings of any kind into my home. If you wish to invite somebody, tell me first, and give me a very detailed description of their true personality/character, and why you want them here. I will consider it at my own discretion.
32.) All beings (spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings) may expect food/offerings to be given at least once per week, decided by my schedule and availability of food/offering.
33.) I will never act to harm or hurt any of the spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings that I have willingly welcomed into my household.
34.) I will always give any spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings a chance to leave on their own will before considering banishment, if for some reason they are no longer welcome in my home.
35.) I will not ignore any pressing needs of anybody in my home. This includes literally everybody that is welcomed into my home.
36.) I will always make time to spend with each individual household spirit/entity/astral being/other being at least once per week, preferably at least two times per week. If you feel you may need or want more time with me, let me know, especially if there is something urgent you wish to talk about.
37.) I will never prevent my household spirits/entities/astral beings/other beings from carrying out their own individual lives, and taking care of their own concerns.
38.) I recognize that a spirit’s/entity’s/astral being’s/other being’s needs in their personal lives are more important than my needs for their companionship.
39.) I will never force any spirit/entity/astral being/other being to do something they are uninterested in doing.
40.) I will allow any being (spirit/entity/astral being/other being) to leave my home of their own free will anytime they desire. If you decide to leave permanently for some reason, let me know so I can say goodbye and ask if there was a reason you decided to leave. I just want to make arrangements as good as possible for everybody.
41.) I will respect my household spirit’s/entity’s/astral being’s/other being’s preferences and wishes as best as I’m able.
42.) Do not intrude upon anybody’s (literally everybody’s) privacy unless they request you to do so specifically and consciously.
43.) NEVER KILL ANYBODY OR ANYTHING. You will be asked to leave immediately, unless it is a plant because I kill those by accident sometimes too.
PHEW. That was a LOT of typing. I may come up with more rules/ edits later, but for now, there are my House Rules. Let me know if there are any gaps, loopholes, or things you think I should add. Hopefully this will help somebody with their house rules :)
