A Reminder: Vade and Company
So are you all familiar with Scoutgender? Eon perhaps? How about Vade? If not, I’m not surprised; she goes by Spiritlore now. She’s tried to dodge her culpability for her past misdeeds on this site (and off of it) for some time, so I feel it’d be remiss to not remind everyone of what happened, in a fashion that Vade herself is only too happy to use.
For the uninitiated: Vade was a user who used to go by the handle Scoutgender here on Tumblr. She was known for declaring herself the god of the TF2 fandom, and together with her friend and stooge Aura, waged a campaign of terror on this site from their TF2FandomIsProblematic community, going after people in months-long campaigns of harassment that often would involve offline behavior. Key to this was Vade relying on several friends of hers to act as attack platforms; picture a tiny, localized version of what certain users of this site did to Zamii70, and you have a pretty good idea of what Vade was capable of.
Thing is, this didn't stay on one community. Vade, through a friend of hers, got in control of several other communities, most notably FurryScumbags, a Tumblr specifically devoted to outing perverts and rapists in the fandom. Within three months, Vade turned it into her personal attack platform to bitch about Cis people, launch lengthy call-out posts so her followers would attack people, et al. Vade became infamous for going after people for the most bullshit of offenses: Have autoplay music on your Tumblr that one of her friends deemed too loud, and thus triggering? A months-long campaign of abuse stemmed over something this ridiculous. Dare to make fun of Vade being an otherkin? A user who's a friend of mine has been systemically attacked by her - for over a year - specifically because of doing so.
And that's just the tip of the iceberg, as you'll soon see.
The Kiwi Farms started looking into Vade because of her actions. Vade likes blaming one user for the article on her, but the truth is that we had dozens of people from Tumblr come to us over this.
During the resulting investigation, the full breadth of what Vade was became apparent: The Farms quickly learned that Vade had a history - and a terrifying one, at that. To give the cliff's notes version: After using Tumblr for a time, Vade warmed up to the idea of becoming "trans" for Tumblr cred. Note the parenthesis. She milked thousands of dollars out of her at-the-time boyfriend, who was genuinely supportive of her transitioning, but Vade never intended to go through with it and essentially used the kid, driving him deeper and deeper into depression and ultimately leading directly to his suicide.
Her response to this suicide was then to use it on Tumblr for attention.
She still does this, even now.It doesn't end there. Vade self-diagnoses herself with hundreds of conditions, none of which she actually has, and then goes onto support forums with people with actual problems to milk sympathy for herself.
I want you to consider, for a moment, if you were a family member of the child who committed suicide. You had no idea about any of this - what led to the suicide, or how complicit his apparent girlfriend at the time was in that suicide. Then you discover it, not because you were told, not because investigation led to it, and certainly not because Vade admitted it - you found it because a lolcow chronicling community looked into it. How would you react?
