i imagine cheetah hybrid declan would absolutely be more vocal than he is now. he would be chirping, purring, chuffing, and growling at any chance he gets. even at times he doesnt mean to. he wouldnt get all that loud, though. just noisy.

unfortunately, he has a lot more stamina as a hybrid too. now, hes not only afraid of silence, but he gets bored of it too. he needs to use little spurts of energy just to be in the right mindset and not be fidgety.

as a feline hybrid, hes a lot less happy about water. he will occasionally enjoy a dip in a lake, and wont complain too much about the wet missions. but he much prefers sun bathing. he will take cat naps in the sun, watch out.

declan is more protective of his team as a hybrid. the least he would do is rub his scent into some part of everyones uniform. maybe his tail would instinctively curl around a mates leg. he would probably bap his hand on their helmets so he can handle something for them.

hes very drawn to the k9 units. despite being part cat, hes actually a lot closer to dogs. he likes the big, calm ones. tends to be near them after missions, sense it helps regulate his emotions.

*Raccoon greets Spit with a wave. They go to cross the doorway into the rec room but forgets to accommodate their antlers and smacks them right on the doorframe. They rub their head and look down as they heard a clattering sound.

Their left antler... fell off...*

declan immediately stood on edge. his spine straightened, ears perked up with anxiety. zipping over to the doorframe, he couldnt help the way his hands raised up to inspect the stub left over: like he didnt need to think twice about helping augustine.

"blimmin’ hell!? are ya alright, mate?" his accent was thicker, just noticeably so. mixed with the unwanted chirping in his tone, it was almost difficult to understand him. though, he failed to process that the other soldier wasnt worried at all.

"... its all good, we can sort this. medbays just down the hall, yeah? theyll know what to do, no worries." declan rambled, sharp eyes flitting back and forth between the antler on the ground and august.

the sun peeked over the horizon line. dusty gold rays bleeding through the gaps in the tall grass. it was lazy and languid, like the sun was waking up alongside everyone else.

declan stood at the edge of the brush, crouched low on a rock warmed from the nights heat. the air was thick, yet comfortable. smelling of wildflowers and dust. it settled in his lungs like a warm blanket. a reason for comfort unbeknownst to him.

the light streamed down, pouring onto his body in long strokes. across his shoulders, dusted with specks and freckles. his arms, lean and sculpted, the color of aged honey. his back, with a prominent spine and dark stripes. inky brown spots kissed every inch of skin, none repeated. no detailed spared. like every one had been given attention by mother nature herself.

cheetah ears flicked above brown curls. short and soft fur, painted in velvety brown and brushed in every breeze. they twitched at every noise: every birds song. every distinct footstep. every sway of a grass blade.

his long tail swayed through the grass. the dark rings melted into the dry savanna brush as if the earth was part of his fur coat. it stayed low, steady. an anchor.

with it, he could crouch for hours without a tremble, still as a statue, golden eyes narrowing and widening in a slow rhythm. patient. focused. watching like a predator.

A very much WINGED Arin tackles cheetah!Declan and drags him outside into the sun to lay on the grass, laying out like a starfish over him, wings spread over the grass.

“You are in dire need of a break, sir! You’ve been working all day.”

a surprised little mrrp slipped from declan as he was tackled down effortlessly. with a grumble and a flick of his tail, he batted at arins wings in protest. petty, persistent, and thoroughly annoyed.

"arin, mate…! cmon now... im not keen for some cruisy lil break." he argued with a gentle snap of his teeth. obvious to blind eyes, he wasnt putting up much of a fight.

Wolfdog!Lazarus naps on top of Cheetah!Spit

declan was strewn on the cool surface, limbs stretched out and tail twitching every so often in his sleep. lazarus was draped over him like a weighted blanket—breath steady and slow, tail drooped in content and comfort. the feline hybrid purred at the warm body above. he wasnt trapped. more similar to anchored. grounded. it felt safe.

nice try nonnie, but if he got one, he would likely play around with it or hand it off to a hybrid that would eat it.

if you threw it to him on the other hand: the whole base would hear the yowl and nobody would be getting near him without showing their hands for at least a week.

a low rumbling vibrates from deep in his chest: slow but loud, enough to be quite obvious. he couldnt resist the instinct to push his head harder in the perpetrators palm, ears folding in satisfaction.

Pulls out a laser pointer and shines it on the wall, moving it around enough to draw attention

declans pupils constricted in an instant. narrow slits like pinpricks, flicking across the wall. his teeth clinked together in a soft warning snap, more instinct than thought. whether the receiver of said threat was pyxrin or the red dot, it wasnt clear.

yeah nah, im not fallin’ for some dumb kitten trick, mate. not my first rodeo... his voice was scratchy. strained. then, like a second hand striking noon, he lunged. a blink and he was slapping at the red dot.
