any soapaz headcannons ? i love your soapaz mini fic. it is so cannon to me
-🧼
AH!! That’s such a high compliment.
I really really really try my best to write them as canon (personality wise) as possible. Which is hard because one, they don’t show much emotions outside of the “okay manly emotions”. There’s definitely more mini fics and art to come (I’m just unfortunately been in the throes of an art slump)
But yes, sopaz thought blurbs:
Gaz
Was adopted when he was five years old. Extremely close with his late Gran. Not as close to his sister anymore.
Originally, he and Ghost didn’t like Soap. Thought the Scot was pretty annoying and showy. Not to mention just way too quick to anger. But, after a rough mission he saw a glimpse of the weight John carried. Feeling like an outsider in the 141. That’s when Gaz started to befriend the other sergeant.
Gaz actually fell for Soap first. It was incredibly one sided. Because at the time Soap and Ghost were secretly dating. Only, Price and Gaz knew about the relationship. But Gaz was really pinning hard for his friend.
An example of his pinning from my notes:
“The sea was all worth it though. He liked the sea. The way it’d cradle his body, the waves lapping against his skin… this blue was comforting. He missed the stormy blue of the UK. Reminded him of a certain MacTavish’s striated eyes.
Not that he was pinning for that man. He never pinned. He and Ghost related over that. No pinning. He was too masculine for that. Along with much too busy.
Garrick had more important responsibilities than to lay awake at night wondering which pet names Soap would hate more. That is if they dated.
Which Garrick would never consider.”
Gaz is actually the worst to sleep next to. It’s a little head canon I got from this fic.
Soap
John’s the middle child of seven. Not as close to his family anymore. Especially after he enlisted. But attends family reunions every once in a blue moon.
Thought Gaz was a bit of a teacher’s pet when he first met him. But grew to really respect the man after hearing his stories or his ideals. He took a bit of Gaz’s ‘mind over matter’ mindset, and tried to apply it to his own life.
Soap started falling for Gaz five months after Ghost broke up with him. It was the little things, checking in on Soap, making him laugh, encouraging him to stop blaming Ghost or himself for the disaster breakup.
Soap wanted to propose first though. Talked to Price and Ghost about it. Along with his close friend Veronica.
Veronica’s a flight attendant Soap tried to take on a date (when he and Ghost went on hiatus). Here’s an excerpt of what their relationship’s like. I know it’s not Sopaz but I like giving them outside military friends. Plus, she’s bridesmaid for the wedding.
Soap blinks as he rubs his eyes. He hadn’t meant to doze off. Drool rolling down his cheek. Veronica turns. Reading a book apparently.
“Ye look like shite..” she gives him a small smile. “Ah didnnae even have ta kiss ye ‘fore ye fell asleep..”
Soap groans. Stretching slowly. Feeling so weirdly relaxed. How long had he gone without sleeping again?
“Aye..Pardon… I donnae usually fall asleep on dates..” he sighs. Slowly getting up. “Guessing yer nae in ta mood-“ She blinks and nods.
He looks aside. There goes someone to take his mind off things.
“John”
He looks back over.
“Ah’m highly sure Ah’m more into lasses.”
Soap grunts and huffs.
“Happy ta help ye realize..”
She frowns and flicks his ear.
“Nae on ye.. ah was jost tryin ta confirm fer maself…”
Soap carefully lifts himself up. Might as well head out. Quit wasting her time.
“John..” she sighs. “… I had fun though… ye .. wanna be mates?” She adds awkwardly.
John pauses okay. Maybe this wasn’t a waste. He could be friends with her. She was nice.. gave him something to look forward to on leave.. along with his gran.
“Sure”
“Really? After ah so rudely rejected you?”
“Ah prefer men more..”
She snorts and shakes her head.
“We’re bampots…”
“Aye..”
“…”
“…”
“Ye like footie..?”
“Ah could kiss ye… absolute blessing of a woman..”
Veronica giggles as she shoves his face away. “Get yer germs away frem ma!!”
Sopaz
Dynamic duo, idiots in love, homies for life type deal here.
Neither of them are super good in the kitchen. So they buy a lot of those meal prep kits.
Their apartment was one of those pre-decorated homes. Johnny had gotten into the habit of living in places like that, since the military. Makes it less depressing to be on leave, and you don’t have to try and decorate. Despite that fact, Kyle still tries to decorate. Photos of important people in their lives. His rock collection’s display box. Some of Soap’s graphite sketches. It clashes slightly with the chic modern look of the apartment, but neither of them care.
Soap loves playing with Kyle’s hair. He loves just kneading Kyle’s coils. Feels like playing with lamb’s silken wool. Not that he’d ever voice that to Kyle though.
Kyle, similarly, loves for how easily he can style Soap’s hair. It’s so fluffy! He’s permanently banned from cutting Soap’s hair though, after the incident.
Both of them run hot. So cuddling is put on hiatus during the muggiest months of the year. But they’re so content during blistering cold temperatures. They’re both each other’s personal space heaters.
Kyle has one of those ‘I love my Scottish boyfriend’ shirts. He actually got it as a joke back when Johnny was dating Simon. Because Simon didn’t want to wear it. Gaz secretly loves that shirt even more now. Takes it with him to base. Sneaks it into Soap’s laundry, just to get it smelling like his favorite boyfriend stink.
Soap has socks with Gaz’s face on them. It wasn’t his choice, surprisingly. His gran loves to make merchandise for her grandkids. Unbeknownst to him, his gran’s sending him ‘Soap n Gaz’ face mugs, in the mail, as I type this.
Some angsty ones, Gaz can be a bit dismissive towards Soap. Because he’s so used to John being able to handle his own. Soap’s incredibly dependable. That he tends to miss those times when Soap is spiraling. When Soap’s trying hard to make an effort. Gaz gets a bit unhappy that Soap doesn’t know how to ‘love properly’. They’ve fought about that occasionally. Gaz’s been petty or thrown in how ‘maybe Simon was right, you’re Fok’n bloody clingy. Like a mutt begging to be leashed!’. Which has always been met with unnerving silence.
Soap believes he’s not good enough for Gaz. I mean sometimes Gaz is poster boy perfect. But he’s written a lot about how ‘planning for the day Kyle takes off those rose coloured glasses and leaves me’. It’s why he doesn’t say anything to Gaz’s unnecessary digs in arguments. He already believes them to be true. There’s a reason he hates dogs so much. Unpredictable, obnoxious, and obedient. Soap sees too much of himself in those fuzzy bastards. He knows he’s too much, not good enough. It’s why it makes him feel cold anger all over when Kyle reminds him.
More fluff. They make me think of sunshine and the ocean. Who doesn’t love one of those things right??
I have another excerpt, because of course I do. Context: Gaz swimming during leave.
He heard his parents shouting about something.
Oh no.
It must be terrible.
Poor souls.
Kyle huffs rubbing his face as he moves to dive under the waves. Just focus on the water Kyle.
Be glad you were born a Garrick and not a Patel.
His head dipping beneath the waves. As he exhales some air. Allowing his body to sink a bit. Watching the light play across the water.
Absolutely stunning. Every time.
No matter the weather, the roughness of the waves, or how strong the light, it was always mesmerizing.
Sunlight and the ocean. Water and light were loved in some form or another.
He surfaces. Glancing around as he swims out a little ways. Lithe body cutting easily through the waters.
Soap was like the ocean. He always had secrets to him. Layers beneath every emotion or word. Something Gaz didn’t think he could ever tire of.
Kyle was the sunlight. It wasn’t always blazingly intense. Sometimes the sun is just stable, present, and o’ so sexy like Kyle.
