*Knock Knock Knock*

“Hannah? You in there?”

Sophia leaned against a wall outside the janitors closet of the Roller-Rama. It was Friday, and that meant one thing: Skate Night. She watched the other kids as they flew around the rink, the music blaring and neon lights flashing.

“Daniel’s gonna win all the games again if you don’t come out and show him who’s boss.” she called, glancing back to the rink. It was filled with kids in colorful costumes finally getting the chance to have fun after a week of fighting each other.

She sees the door handle jiggle as Hannah cracks the door. She is wearing her yellow headphones.

“Hi Sophia.”

Hannah looked overwhelmed. She squinted as the bright lights made their way into her hiding spot.

“What’s the matter kid? You’re gonna miss limbo!”

“It’s too loud.” Hannah said. Sophia noticed Hannah’s tensed shoulders and stressed expression. Then, she had an idea.

“How about we get out of here?”

Hannah wiped her mouth as she finished her slice of banana pie, and gave a smile to the redheaded woman behind the counter.

“Thanks Miss Holloway.”

The woman smiled back and took her empty plate.

“This is way better than fro-yo.” Sophia said, her mouth filled with cherry pie.

After they had paid, they walked back to the Roller-Rama. Hannah looked over at Sophia beside her. She was so happy to have her as a friend.
