"Well?" Secretive Plotter asks, and holds out a hand. The pale fingers are long and Kim Dokja can see silver scars cutting through the skin. “Come now, Kim Dokja. I can fulfill your wish and return your family to you. I can burn down the kingdom and make them see how dangerous it is to go against magic. You know you need me.” He shouldn’t. He shouldn’t. Secretive Plotter is dangerous and powerful and inhuman and he’s Kim Dokja’s only hope to get his loved ones out alive. He takes Secretive Plotter’s hand, and tries not to feel like the world is ending. or: Kim Dokja would do anything to save the people he loves from the king. Even if it means giving himself up to Secretive Plotter.

"You can't be trusted."
It always surprises him, the way words can hurt. Dokja presses his lips together and forces back his automatic defensiveness. At least he tried.
Secretive Plotter rubs the edge of his veil between his fingers. After a moment, he asks Dokja a question. "Do you think this universe would have been better off without your interference?"
Without his interference— a world where Gilyoung died on the train, where Yoosung couldn't survive, where Yoo Joonghyuk continued to relive his endless torment. A world, too, where Kim Namwoo might have lived and made something of himself. Somewhere none of them had to mourn Dokja's death over and over, where even if they never reached that elusive perfect end, they could even be happier.
And yet—
"No," Dokja whispers, almost against his will. He can save everyone. He has to. Or why is he even here?
The god before him bends his mouth into something that could perhaps be a distant cousin to a smile. "I don't dislike you, Kim Dokja."
If Dokja had to put a name to the Plotter's expression, he might call it wistful. But Dokja isn't stupid enough to think an existence like Secretive Plotter would have any real sentiment for him.
"But obsession will be the death of you."
