Character Headcanons: Agent 8
I remembered that I didn't do Agent 8, even though I did Agent 4 (Vier) and Agent 3 (Ethel). I still haven't played Octo-Expansion, so I'm going to use Inkipedia like last time.
I've decided to call Agent 8 Amane (Kanji: 天音 / Katakana: アマネ), which means "heavenly sound" based on the Kanji used. This is a reference to Calamari Inkantation being a major theme of theirs, since it's what drove them to quitting the Octarian military.
If you're wondering, the Katakana is there because Katakana is how Octarian is written in the Japanese version of Splatoon; both Marina and DJ Octavio have text in Katakana in order to imply a different accent from Inklings, according to Inkipedia.
Amane doesn't really care about pronouns, but will only accept feminine titles. If referred to with a masculine titles, Amane will ignore the speaker until the speaker corrects themself.
While trying to speed up his learning of the Inkling written language, Amane started to write poetry in Inklish. He was already good at writing poetry in Octarian, so he thought doing it in Inklish would help him.
Xe has always had an interest in divination, but xe couldn't find a good conduit in the Octarian army. Once xe arrived in Inkopolis, Amane found several different conduits for divination. As of recently, Amane has been using tarot cards and dictionaries (taromancy and dictiomancy).
Continuing from the last bullet point: Amane's predictions are accurate a majority of the time. This has caused plenty of cer friends to ask cem for advice via divination.
After arriving in Inkopolis, she was taught Inklish Sign Language in order to communicate with others; I think Inklish Sign would probably look like Japanese Sign Language.
They're upset that not a lot of hair stylists know what to do with Octoling hair. Whenever they can, Amane and Marina do each other's hair.
Ge is not allowed to have audio control during long commutes because ge plays Calamari Inkanation on loop. That, or Amane plays Nasty Majesty / The Plan on loop.
He loves trying on different clothes, and gets excited if someone mentions clothes shopping. Most of the time, he tries to coordinate his outfits with his friends!
