I just saw this and wanted to spread. Someone is playing online with unreleased content which 'soft-locks' your save which I think means it stops you from playing online - it might also mean you lose all your data.
This person is playing as an Octoling and has a Hydra Splatling.
If you see this person, DO NOT TURN OFF. The player appearing in your Booyah Base is what causes the problem.
From what I have read, the solution is to keep playing until they leave the lobby. It might also work to quit lobby and rejoin turf wars but do not go into your plaza or Booyah Base.
If this does happen to you, I'm not sure how to fix it. Waiting until the next Splatfest might fix it because apparently the people in your Booyah Base are reset then.

So anyone know what happens if you manually shut down your Wii U when one of those things appears? You don't necessarily return to the plaza, but that's not waiting either...
