Hey splatoon manga fans! What are your thoughts on me adding a couple personal headcannons to my Various Splatoon Manga x Skilled! Isekai'd! Reader story? for example their heights, Aloha's freckles, Army being an octoling, etc? nothing that will change the story drastically, just some little scenarios at most :)

The tubes in the mouths of octocommanders and octosnipers go down their throat directly into the tract that connects the ink sac to the throat. Octarian elite culture is knowing the tube creates higher pressure fire but HATING it anyways because it will activate your gag reflex going in until you’re used to it and everyone who has a weapon with the infamous Throat Tube has nearly impaled themselves with it at least once.
Splatoon Inkling and Octoling ear and hearing headcannons: More under cut bc whoops it’s longer than I anticipated.
Inklings: Their ears are held in place by default by tightened muscles are the ear base, but these can loosen to significantly increase flexibility, allowing the ears to swivel, rotate, and move up and down to better detect sound and to convey emotion. Most inklings can only use both ears at once in the same direction, but in rare cases, an inkling will be able to move their ears independently of one another. The bones in their ears are stiff in order to keep their cone shape so sound essentially just funnels in, and inklings are wired towards stomach or back sleeping to prevent accidentally breaking an ear while asleep, but it sometimes happens anyways.
Octoling: Octoling ears are more like human ears than inklings, being both locked in place and having a flexible cartilage. While octolings can’t hear where sound is coming from as precisely as an inkling’s cone shaped ears, octarians have evolved echolocation, and rely more on that for telling where a noise is from than their hearing anyways. They can even make different sounds while doing so to signal why they are to differentiate the urgency of why they’ve been prompted to (“Lost glasses”, “potential threat”, etc.).
