HEY splatoon fans, i recently bought this piece of splatoon merch, and i was wondering if this script would translate to anything?

Just found this on twitter -- does anyone know if there are other scripts in the game? i feel like i’ve seen MUCH more script in game and i wanna know more about it
Version 0.1 of the Square Script is finally here!
After literally more than two years, I finally managed to find the power of will to finalize the font. I hope you all enjoy using it!
Here it’s how it works:
Uppercase and lowercase letters are distinct symbols
Numbers and some punctuation are available as well
If you want to flip a letter 180°, you add a comma (,) after a letter

Octarian Script is finally here!
However, this is not a creation of mine. This was made by Twitter user @TK_Subboi, by analyzing Sunken Scroll #8 from the original Splatoon.
You should also check out TK_Subboi’s art while you’re at it. It’s pretty rad.
If anyone else wants to tackle another script, please feel free to do so. My main goal here is to be able to use the scripts for fan works and such 😄.

Square script
(aka Lorem Inksum)
The next script I identified is the Square script. This one apparently is used for bodies of text; for example, some of the Sunken Scrolls, descriptions for the exhibitions in the Museum, instructions on the Warning signs in many maps, and many more places. Pretty much any label and long text will have this script.
(this is cute!)
As you can see, the letters from this script are made entirely of horizontal and vertical strokes. No diagonals, and no curves. This is why I call it Square. Not that I have anything against other geometric shapes.
Something interesting is that the letters can be rotated 180° to almost double the number of available letters. This is like the Inkling script, except with no mirrors.
In case you were wondering, thanks to analyzing this script it was determined that Inkling has no meaning.
Also, it appears that I’m not the first one looking at this one. There’s a font called Cephaloblock which is essentially a handwritten version of the script. I still don’t know if this font includes all letters from the script, though.
Version 0.1 of the Round script from Splatoon is finally here!
Interestingly enough, I found exactly 26 characters, so it matches 1:1 to the English alphabet. It only uses lowercase, since these don’t seem to have an upper/lower case distinction.
You’re free to use this font for personal projects such as Splatoon fanart. Credit is always appreciated.
I hope you like it!

Round script
(OK, so at this point I will start making up names for the scripts, since I don’t know of any official name for these)
The Round script can be seen in some billboards and signs. This one is the script for the “ON AIR” sign at the Inkopolis studio, and the “GAS” label on Suction Bombs.
The font used isn’t as stylized as Inkling, but it still includes both round and straight strokes. Also, unlike Inkling, Round doesn’t mirror or rotate characters. They have a defined orientation.
I’m in the process of gathering all the characters for this script. The poster for the second Squid Sisters concert was very helpful, allowing me to vectorize a good portion of them.
After I finish collecting all the characters, I will update this post with a link to the font.
Inkling script
Let’s start with the most recognizable one, the Inkling script. This one is seen in many places: in billboards, in the Sunken Scrolls, gear, etc. Most interestingly, it’s used in content that breaks the fourth wall, such as Splatfest T-shirts, the back of the in-game amiibo case, and the Squid Sisters lyrics from Nintendo Direct.
This one just has around 20 base characters. However, that number is almost quadrupled by mirroring and rotating them.
This one has already been converted into a font with all the characters included: http://frozenpandaman.github.io/inkling.html . The only problem I’ve got with this is that it mixes Inkling and Latin characters, to be able to transliterate English (or other languages).
