@spliinkles role swap au is a total banger my dudes check them out
The interesting difference with roleswap Indus and Mera is that if Mera is the bodyguard, and Indus wants the amulet (though it’s still for her), then that means that this Mera seems to focus on her own capabilities as is, even with the horrible pain. Here’s a long info dump of thoughts on their roleswap backstory. This Mera lost to Indus when they met. It was a long fight, but she couldn’t knock him out in one blow like our Mera did. Indus is dazzled by this tough warrior who almost bested him, although she is now raging and crying on the floor about her useless epithet, and asks to take her on as a student- a bodyguard even! (After she goes to the hospital of course) Mera is very reluctant and snippy at first, but as she travels with Indus, she gets more and more dedicated to being his guard. She just wants her epithet to be useful for this one thing. She also learns how to fight (in a way that uses her opponents moves and momentum against them, so as to keep hospital trips to a minimum). Even still, Indus protects her much more than she does him. She doesn’t tell him how useless it makes her feel. This Mera’s fear is twisted very slightly- she’s not afraid of just being Fragile forever, she’s afraid of being too Fragile to do anything... like protect Indus. It boils over in the final confrontation in the museum that night: she’s going to do her job and do it DANG well, no matter the cost to herself, or to others.
