so right now my primary fic daydream world is Rusty Quill Gaming, so lemme tell you about my Grizzop Egg Preg fic.

when i describe it as egg preg it sounds so much worse than it actually is

spoilers for end of s3 and all of s4 of rqg, plz tab away if you don't want that.

so it's a pretty typical everybody lives/nobody dies (except bertie) au. grizzop and sasha end up in the quarantine cell with everybody else at the beginning s4

this is deeply riffing on two things: one, goblins have clutches and therefore lay eggs and two, delayed fertilization is a thing most egg-laying animals can do.

basically, grizzop fucked vesseek ages ago and his body stored their sperm. because grizzop is always on the move and fighting stuff, hes just never had the time for eggs. the week of doing literally nothing in quarantine tricks his body into thinking that now is a good quiet stress-free time to lay eggs.

cue nesting behavior and some angst when Grizzop realizes what's going on, because this is supposed to be vesseek's clutch, but Vesseek isn't here to help take care of them. Luckily, LOLOMG is right there to help him out.

idk it's basically a sick fic slash hurt/comfort, and then it's a kid fic while LOLOMG and the kobolds and the airship take care of Grizzop's kids. fluffy.

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

Thematically, that would be complex and rather broken villains, preferably on some variation of crooked redemption path. Preferable combined with a fucked-up love story of sorts. (Enemies to lovers is good.)

I’ve caught myself using the “thing X was (like) the only thing in the world” phrase several times int he Roadtrip, so am trying to at least vary it a little in phrasing now, though I’m still fond of the basic concept of dissociation/hyperfocus for these traumatized characters.

Characters smiling also happens a lot in this story, partly because the vast repertoire of smiles is one of Xue Yang’s foremost methods of communication, but also because both he and Song Lan pay such close attention to Xiao Xingchen’s smiles.

I guess I would also have to say “angst”, if only because of the number of “I’m crying now” comments I’ve gotten on this story... >.>

Other than that, I don’t know? It’s hard to analyze one’s own writing for subconscious themes and repetitions - any of the readers have anything to say? Do I have words or themes I use a lot? :D

Claw caps??

The tough part with Howie is that we’ve only had him for about five weeks, and we’re still building trust. He doesn’t like his paws being touched and will lash out with them, and since they’re predictably sharp, that’s not so much of an option. Tried snipping them while he sleeps, but no dice. I actually enjoy cutting cat nails (so satisfying to push the little tote bean down and out comes the nail from the knuckle) and had a good time doing it with a cat I used to live with. 

Claw caps or nail trimming, either would be good if I could get near his paws easily. And since we’re still building trust (and it’s working! he nudges our hands more often now for a quick pet), I don’t wanna force him into a towel burrito and subject him to the trauma of cutting his nails, y’know?

It’s just so clearly someone who knows what’s happening is wrong but doesn’t know how to articulate it. I’ve been there, and I felt for her, because I’ve only been there with like...someone spending too much on catering for a work party. And she’s there at the END OF THE WORLD.

Apparently the body-swap was put in *specifically because* so many of us know the book so well and Neil Gaiman wanted us to have one opportunity to be surprised.

HAHA, I wondered. It’s a great addition, really, adds a nice touch without warping anything from the original story.

And I agree with you about Queen but actually wished they'd used a little more. Not much, just like 30 seconds longer in places. Just for like Mood.

I would have been okay with a bit more of it. I was just worried we were going to have to sit through the whole damn song, since I understand it was a bit of a wrestle to get the rights in the first place.

I too have been pronouncing Crowley wrong for a long time. And Amma Ris is FANTASTIC. A+ casting for the Them.

They really did a tremendous job, all four of them, but she stood out in particular.

Of course it is. And of course Crowley would have it. I love this. Thank you for bringing it my attention.

What I like best is imagining it’s not even the REAL Maltese Falcon, it’s the fake, and he has to fend off roughly 4-5 thievery attempts a year by people who don’t realize that.

Mr. Young's license plate reads "SID RAT" which is obviously TARDIS backwards. I think they should have been swapped considering Tennant.

See, that would have been funny but too on the nose! It’s lovely that it’s his dad who has the TARDIS car.

The nipples thing is a pretty great running gag. Plus it lets them claim the Antichrist has "oodles of them!", which is just the cherry on top of an immensely ridiculous situation.

“How many nipples does he have?” “OODLES!” was such a great moment.

Milage may vary, but. I've found that RSD interacts badly with PTSD and trauma, so. Be aware, i guess?

Yep, I’m well aware. I’ve got a lot of medical trauma and PTSD (along with some good old fashioned childhood PTSD thrown in for fun) which, ha ha, a lot of it comes from being rejected, neglected and being made to feel like a basket case by medical professionals, so it’s just all kinds of nightmare levels of hell trying to unravel it all.
