A tidbit about Split Infinitives?

Oh, this one. I’m kind of excited about this one! So, Past Perfect Future Tense is obviously told from Quentin’s POV. It’s never been a big issue with previous chapters, but for two separate scenes in the chapter I’m currently working on, my brain has spun entire scenarios and encounters and conversations, courtesy of Eliot, to account for what leads to certain things happening.

Split Infinitives will be a one shot of outtakes, really, told from Eliot’s perspective. If my suspicions are correct, it will encompass events that take place during Chapters Four and Five of PPFT, and be posted between the latter and the last chapter. If that makes sense.

Honestly, I’m not even sure if this is something people will want, it’s just something that won’t leave me alone. LOL

💁🏻‍♂️ It’s perfectly OK to boldly split infinitives and accept that prepositions are acceptable words to end sentences with. (Wink, wink.)

Long story short - splitting infinitives in English is absolutely fine.  The reason some people think it’s wrong seems to go back to Latin being far more commonly taught to people and it’s impossible to split infinitives in Latin.  But English and Latin are not the same, so if you’re using English and want to split them, go right ahead.

ok but like... what's wrong with splitting infinitives... this isnt latin where infinitives are one word this is english

No clue! It’s one of those grammar rule things that we’re supposed to follow. I’m not a prescriptivist, and my writing is generally very colloquial, so I say It would behoove us to thoroughly hang that rule.
