He chose illusion track for sheer potential of entertainment! He likes to perform and create!

He prefers to avoid confrontations and illusion track is one of the least offensive ones.

He is in his late thirties, he became the head witch rather quick and wasn't thrilled with how things ended up being on the top.

His childhood life was rough(the family situation is so au-ish and the split persona is waaaaay out there xD), so he took the unpleasant reality as something he will have to live with.

He does love to mess with people and push their buttons. Ended up being more on sadistic scale with how unfulfilling his job had become.

Imagine headcanon Adrian and his split personality being on different sides, like one supports Belos and believes his lies about paradise while the other actually thinks Darius is right and they should join the Rebellion, sadly the one who supports Belos is the most dominent so the other self has no choice but to follow, and when King's Tides happens, the personality loyal to Belos can only apologize to his other self as they are drained and ask for forgiveness to both him and their lover Darius

They've been disgarmonized for so long because of this!! But now they can start mending things between each other and Darius!!

Adrian's mind is a theatre. The tallest trees fold into each other as they seal away any outer source of light. It's only the memories that shine so bright that they cast an emerald-colored reflection from the leaves. As you walk the halls the play begins. Dreamlike, but cold figures emerge from the pictures, enthusiastic that someone is here to see them, all ready to perform.

But at one point, you must have taken the wrong turn.

These pictures don't look the same anymore, as you arrive, at a place best described by calling it The Backstage. Plastered on the trees, there are curtains, covered in pictures that are all brand new and blank like they were bleached. Piles of broken frames lay around like abandoned props, and somewhere in The Backstage, two figures are wandering around. Some day, they are going to find each other again.

I definitely spent too much time thinking about the spilt personality au and my mind went wild. If this is the case, I think the illusion Gus cast ripped the curtains off the dying memories in a mere second.

Well, I base mine on magical incident with magical symptoms and all. And don't intend this to make into an actual disorder.

And I don't intend to make the split personalities some kind of villians or evil roots of problems.

Split personality!Adrian headcanon: neither personality actually remembers which one is the original one and which one is the second personality (they have a super rare condition of having been born with 2 souls in the same body so they're not split personalities but 2 beings in 1 body since birth, something so rare and unusual that it went down in the lost chapter of the history of the Boiling Isles so nobody remembers that it was a thing before). Darius accidently found out and told them.

So they were not aware of each other or misinterpreted their condition?

Well, that's unique!! Wonder how Darius found out!!
