Supernatural S10 snippet written on the prompt: "Howling" - starring Castiel and demon Dean
One second later, and Castiel knew, without a doubt in his aching heart, that Sam would have died from a hatchet in the head or neck.
One second more, and Dean's rage bursted out of him like a curse; a howl, so furious and all encompassing that the angel saw it rippling on the wardened walls and seaping into Sam, transforming his breath from relief to terror.
Dean's body was warm- so warm that Castiel's cheek on his neck prickled and burned as he held him tighter against him, his Grace trapping the demon into a tight embrace.
None of the love it exuded, none of the purity of it reached the humanity so dear to his friend, and he could swear a wet trail was running down to his chin. Whether that were sweat or something else was not of import- Dean felt like a dark pit, his soul damaged what he felt was beyond repair.
Screams bursting and ripping through the Veil itself, a monster meant to be destroyed at the hands of an angel, yet all Castiel could do was drag Dean into the interrogation room and let Sam tie him back into the chair.
When he looked at him, the younger brother's Adam's apple bobbed in a suppressed sob, and the angel passed a hand on his broad shoulder.
If Dean were to come back from damnation, Castiel knew it would only be a short reprieve. And he could never take this again; the bloodlust. The carnal grin as he looked at them, the low, rumbling laugh he let out.
All just a promise - this Dean, so willing to kill everything and everyone he ever was close to, was cursed to come back.
This Dean was a damnation he was sure to see again, if they didn't find a way to stop it.
