Take it from an Italian translator
Ok, my two cents.
I’m an Italian teacher and translator and I have experience in the world of dubbing and subtitling.
First of all, I think it’s fake. S15’s dubbing is not even supposed to be in the works yet, and doing what they’ve done (if you have a knack for sound technology) is not really that hard. The dubbers (Guerrieri and Crescentini) are very popular and have dubbed a shitload of stuff in their careers. You need to understand, in Italy dubbing is BIG, we dub everything, and most Italian people well and truly believe that our dubbers are so good, sometimes their voices surpass the original. As an English teacher and translator I’ve been watching my stuff in English without subs for years now, so I can’t really tell whether the voices are real, but it wouldn’t have been impossible to take their voices from some other love confession they’ve dubbed and then juxtaposed it on the scene.
It is well done, I must say. Seamless. They would have needed to scrub the original audio from the dialogue (not that difficult, there are free softwares for that) and then clean up and cut the lines and impressed them over the video.
All in all, it would have been a bit time consuming, but not at all impossible. For the right person, not even hard. I mean, I would’ve been able to do it – though probably not as seamlessly.
The other reason why I sincerely doubt this is genuine is that Italy has a long history of de-homosexualisation in dubbing and subtitling. And I mean LONG. I have read books on this topic, I have written papers on it. Generally speaking, when Italy has to make a choice between a) keeping the gayness at the original level b) raising the level of gayness and c) lowering the level of gayness, Italy tends to go with the latter. Historically speaking.
So let’s try and remain realistic.
