I absolutely love the "cas' handprint on Dean dissappears when Cas dies" take because it's so devastating and makes me wanna rip my heart out, but I raise you:

It doesn't dissappear and is instead a constant reminder that he's gone. Every time he changes a shirt, moves a certain way, scratches his arm, he's reminded of what once was, what could have been, and will never be.

He can't bring himself to cover it with bandages or other in fear of forgetting him.
