it’s so funny to me that eight years into cas’s time on the show they introduced an old angel friend of his who A. survived godstiel and the fall (the former probably because he was on cas’s good side) and B. had some personal relationship with his vessel which is something we hadn’t seen before unless you count lucifer and nick or lucifer and sam (though two seasons ago we DID see angels acknowledging their vessels as people)

and then he’s in one scene where he dies in a fight BUT first we get to see him playing video games at an arcade machine

The only angel who talks as if he's different from his vessel's gender instead of just going along with whatever it is (and asking other angels to do the same) is Benjamin, who's heavily implied to be in a relationship with his female human vessel.

What do you guys think was the deal with Benjamin and his vessel?

Benjamin is an angel. His vessel is a woman.

Do you think he goes by male pronouns in English because Benjamin is a masculine name, or do you think he was previously in a male vessel? Angels and demons etc. usually default to the gender of the vessel we originally see them in.

My headcanon is that Benjamin intentionally chose a different gender from his vessel as a way of preserving her individuality even after they basically became one.
