“Cas.. cas c’mere for a second.” Sam whispered. Castiel turned around and Sam was peeking out from behind a door. He looked over at Dean and y/n, who were watching some movie, arguing whether it was a christmas movie or not. “Die hard is not a christmas movie! Even Bruce Willis said so!” “But it came out on christmas eve!! Of course it’s a christmas movie!” Nodding he slipped in the door into the room beside Sam.
“We’ve got to do something about them.” Sam said as Castiel closed the door. “About who?” Cas asked. Sam rolled his eyes. “The lovebirds on the couch over there! Oh come on Cas. You see it too right? They’re head over heels for each other.” He exclaimed. Castiel shrugged. “Y/n and Dean always said they’re just friends and I -,” he started. “Bullshit.” Sam cut in. “Bullshit?” Castiel said. Sam sighed. “They’re not just friends. Dean acts weird around her. He always tries to show off. It’s annoying.” He said. “I guess...” Cas muttered. “So are you in?” Sam asked. After a few seconds, Cas nodded. Earning a smile from Sam.
“Hey Cas. Whatcha got there?” Y/n said, frightening Castiel. She always snuck up on him. On purpose. She said it was payback for all the times he popped up beside her. “Um - nothing...” he said, quickly shoving the object under his trenchcoat. “Oh come on. Please? It’s only me..” she begged, trying to get around Cas to see what it was. “It’s nothing.” He said, before disappearing from sight.
“Got the stuff?” Sam asked as Castiel stumbled into the kitchen. “Yes. It was close though. Y/n almost saw it. I had to - well - zap out of there. I’m sure she’s a little suspicious.” Cas said placing the little pot of herbs on front of him. “Mistletoe. I don’t understand Sam. Why do we need it?” The angel asked. Sam laughed. “It’s like a tradition Cas. If two people walk under mistletoe. They have to kiss. It’ll be a great way for them to confess how they feel.” He said proudly, holding up a piece. “What if they don’t?” Cas asked. “Don’t what?” Sam said, putting the mistletoe back in the jar and screwing on the lid. “Don’t have - feelings. What if they really are just friends?” Castiel stated. Sam shook his head. “I guess we’ll see.” He said.
“Hey Dean?” Y/n asked, knocking on Dean’s open door. He was sitting cross legged on the bed, eyes closed and music playing through his old record player. AC/DC. One of her favourite songs, Hells Bells. Dean didn’t hear her over the loud song, so she sighed and sat down beside him. Laying her head on his shoulder. “Y/n? I didn’t hear you come in.” He said, reaching over and turning off the music. “Yeah. Cas says I’m very quiet. I don’t think so though.” She muttered. “What’s up?” He asked, shuffling back beside her so she could rest against him again.
She sighed. “Are Cas and Sam acting weird to you?” She asked, looking up at him. He chuckled. “I dunno. They’re always weird don’t you think?” He said. She shrugged. “Yeah. But weirder than normal.” Y/n mumbled, fiddling with a lose string on Dean’s bed. “Hmm. I haven’t really noticed. I’m sure it’s nothing y/n. Don’t worry.” He said, rubbing circles on her back. She nodded and leaned away from him, collapsing down on the bed. “Maybe I’m just paranoid.” She said. Dean laughed. “You’re a hunter. Hunter’s are paranoid.” He pointed out. “I guess you’re right.” She muttered. “I’m always right.” Dean said. “No way. You said Die Hard wasn’t a christmas movie.” She said with a smile. “Oh my god how many times do I have to tell you -,” Dean started again.
“I’m telling you! Even Bruce Willis said so. Die hard is not a christmas movie!” Dean argued as him and y/n made their way to the library. “Oh my god Dean. It obvoiusly is! It came out on christmas eve!” Y/n argued back. “Stop! Stop right there!” Sam shouted suddenly. Y/n and Dean looked at him confused. He pointed upwards, a large grin on his face. “What - oh...” Dean said looking up. “It’s mistletoe!” Castiel said from behind them. “Cas.. sam.. what are you..” Y/n said, trying to stay calm. “Well. Go on. Don’t worry we won’t look.” Sam said with the shit eating grin still on his face.
“I mean - um - rules are rules..” Dean stuttered. Y/n looked up at the mistletoe and then back at Dean. “You sure?” She asked. Dean nodded. She gently wrapped her arms around his neck and he did the same with his arms around her waist. Slowly the gap between them closed. Y/n stopped when their lips were almost touching. “You sure?” She whispered again. Dean replied by pressing his lips against hers.
