What If SPN’s Gabriel was another time variant of MCU’s Loki? (a fanfic idea/thought)
Since seeing the post credits scene of the latest episode of Loki, and seeing all the other variants, it reminded me of other portrayals of Loki in other shows, fandoms, and media. Then I remembered Gabriel from Supernatural who has been referred to in the beginning as the Trickster but he’s actually been an archangel all along. (Did I just accidentally quote Agatha’s theme song there?)
If you seen Supernatural in it’s entirety, you would remember that episode in season 5 where Gabriel shows up in a motel that full of deities from other religions and folklore, claiming he was Loki and saving the Winchesters, before seemingly being killed by his older brother, Lucifer. Then you fast forward to Season 13 when it turns out that Gabe is alive after using a cloaking spell from a shaman to fake his death but he imprisoned by Asmodeus after being sold by the actual Supernatural equivalent of Loki, who has the same face as Gabe here. The reason why Loki betrays Gabriel after the death of Odin back in that hotel in season 5 because Gabriel promised not to be involved in Loki’s personal family affairs. Gabriel ends up killing Loki in the end.
Well, based on what I remember, my thought process came up with an idea for a crossover one-shot/fanfic idea:
What if Gabriel was in fact another time variant of MCU’s Loki, but isn’t? Also, what if Gabriel managed to create such a time variant in order to fake his death by Lucifer’s hands? (My mind hasn’t been stopping from thinking of all the possibilities of these two scenarios).
I can imagine that post-credits scene of episode 4 of Loki being like this:
Loki: “Is this hel. Am I dead?”
Gabriel: “Not yet, compadre. But you will be unless you come with us.”
Loki: *looks up to see a man with blondish/light brown hair, taking out a lollipop from it’s wrapper before plopping it in his mouth.*
Gabriel: “The name is Gabriel, but you can just call me Gabe. I’m an time variant just like you, but different from all the other Loki’s around here.” *Points at the various version of Loki standing behind him. “Except I’m not you.” *eyes begins to glow a blueish-white color. The silhouette of Gabe’s shadow changes to show wings.* “There’s a lot that you need catching up on, God of Mischief.”
(There’s more, but it would be too long for me to post.)
What do any of you guys think? Does anyone have the same thoughts as I do, or am I just not thinking as rationally.
