Read this sentence from chapter 1 of lout of the count's family for me

"He meets the main character a few times after he gets the scar, and, in a refreshing cider-like scene, gets beaten to a pulp."

"—meets the main character a few times"

I don't think og!Cale immediately got beaten up by Choi Han upon meeting him???

Now look at this from chapter 5.

"Cale threw five jabs before he was hit. Which means, one jab should be okay."

This sounds like og!Cale met Choi Han five times before he got beaten up. Of course, it could have been less and og!Cale just threw in more "jabs" per meeting but I find it interesting that, despite what is generally considered canon in the fandom, og!Cale was not immediately beaten up, and even met og!Choi Han multiple times before it.

To me... doesn't that sound like og!Cale was searching for a sore spot? Something that would throw Choi Han into a fit of anger enough to beat up the son of a count? Seems like his comment about Harris Village might not have been his true thoughts, but his last resort attempt– mocking the dead. To force Choi Han to react.

If my knowledge of canon isn't wrong either, og!Cale was alone with Choi Han when this happened. As if he had predicted that this would send Choi Han into a frenzy and didn't want his guards to try and protect him, or punish Choi Han for it. Since og!Cale also didn't tell anyone about who beat him up or why.

So as far as I can tell... og!Cale didn't mock Harris Village out of nowhere? But was instead a carefully selected choice that he made out of necessity– because Choi Han hadn't risen to any of his other "jabs" and he needed someone to beat him up. Perhaps to get out of going to the meeting with the nobles?

There's still some parts that don't make sense, but I'm going through the novel to double check my knowledge and verify it. For example, Ron says this in chapter 10.

"This is going to be your first time outside the Henituse territory, right?"

This implies that og!Cale has never taken up the responsibility of going to the noble's meeting, and this is confirmed when lcf!Cale goes to the residential manor at the capital and it's described how the servants have never met Cale before. BUT in the novel, it isn't a question on if lcf!Cale will be attending. He just does.

So og!Cale would have needed an excuse every time the nobles meeting came around for why he couldn't go. Now think about this: why did og!Cale get that scar on his side? Og!Cale isn't covered in scars, so why is it that suddenly he does something reckless like that a few days before having to leave for the nobles meeting?

Presumably, it's because he needed an excuse. But it's a scar by the time he meets Choi Han only a few days later, so clearly his father hired a priest so heal og!Cale, or already had one on hand. No injury, no excuse. So og!Cale decided to get Choi Han to beat him up. No one else in the territory would have been able to do it! og!Cale already scared off all the gangsters, who are also too afraid of the count's retaliation when they are found out. Choi Han has no fear of that retaliation, at least when it comes to mocking his dead family.

Note: og!Cale got that scar before meeting Choi Han. Then he meets Choi Han and starts throwing out jabs? This means either og!Cale didn't know that Choi Han was strong but goaded him anyway, knowing no one else would beat him up... or og!Cale already had enough strength to tell that Choi Han was extremely strong, enough that beating up a normal person and beating up a slightly strong person would feel exactly the same to him, and that's why he goes after him. Not because Choi Han would be the only one willing to beat him up in their territory– after all, surely there's at least one or two that would do it? So why Choi Han?

Please add onto this if you remember something relevent because I haven't reread the first 50 or so chapters, and so I don't remember if Cale had to go and tell Deruth he would be the one going to the capital, if I missed it as I was skimming through or if it was said in a later chapter. I must analyze og!Cale through a microscope!!!!

I'll say it right now, most of them knew even before Cale made a formal announcement.

Some people knew right off the bat (Raon, Ohn, Hong, Ron). Not necessarily because Cale told them, but because they're always with Cale (the kids) or is just good like that, maybe follows him (Ron).

Other people find out about it because of Cale's difference in attitude (the rest of his group: Choi Han, Rosalyn, Hans, etc.). At first, they deemed the change odd, but became happy after realising that it was because he now has you as his lover. Though some are a bit slow in connecting the dots (Choi Han and Hans). However, Cale wasn't exactly being discreet. He would either go out saying that he was going to hang out with you, or invite you over to his place and hang out in private. So safe to say that they got the gist after a while.

As for Cale's parents, I'd like to believe that Hans, being the little tattle tale that he is, mentioned it in one of the reports. Now they are just waiting for him to formally introduce you to the family.

Alberu... Alberu has had enough to be honest. He'd seen it all; from Cale being in love to Cale finally asking you out. His happy for his dongsaeng, but please, someone stop Cale from teleporting to his bedroom to eat cookies and rant about random things (including demanding things to gift to you because Alberu is Cale's walking atm).

Now let's go to when Cale actually introduces you to everyone.

Since everyone already knew about you and had done extensive research about you to make sure you couldn't bring harm to their young master they were polite and all smiles. Immediately accepting you into the family and acting as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

Cale didn't think much about this, though. He just thought that a lout getting a lover is no big deal. When in reality, everyone had been preparing for this meeting FOR AGES.

Even when the Henituse family served your favourite foods for dinner, Cale just chalked it up to it being a coincidence, and the two of you mentioned in passing how you like every single dish they served.

That made everyone in the family feel proud and accomplished.

The entire family (bio and found) already knew that they were gonna like you based on their research, but actually meeting you really solidified it.

After Cale's formal introduction, the kids would demand that you outright. One time, Raon even straight up said that you should just live with them.

Cale took that to heart, by the way.

The adults were more subtle about it, but they definitely want you to be around more as well. They would constantly Cale how you were doing and when you're going to visit next, as well as if the two of you have any plans to move in together.

They definitely asked you to stay in the Super Rock Villa when the war started. It's 2 birds with 1 stone: they get their wish, and they know you're safe and sound.

I feel like he always shows an aura that attracts others. So what if rd sees him chatting with a noble, and he can see the heart in that person's eyes when they looked at Cale. At first rd tried to restrain herself :(( but she couldn't. She ended up holding Cale's hand and pouting the whole time

It was dusk, the moon was just beginning to wake up from her slumber to adorn the sky with her starry pearls and natural glow, when the ball began. A dance in honor of the Crown Prince of the Roan Kingdom, future king of this land. It has been hosted each year ever since the prince was crowned.

In other words, it was a show of power and wealth; a political move from the imperial family.

One that Cale wished not to be part of.

With a big sigh, he drank the remaining red liquid from the glass he had in his hand. The taste of alcohol made interacting with the crowds tolerable.

“Master Cale?” A sickeningly sweet voice called to him.

Cale turned and greeted a young noblewoman that was approaching him. “Good evening,” he slightly vowed.

“So it is you!” She got closer to him, practically in front of his face. “It’s such an honor to meet the infamous Cale of the Henituse Territory!” Her eyes sparkled. He leaned back out of instinct, feeling the uncomfortableness of the situation.

“Haha…the honor is all mine,” he said back with his diplomatic smile.

“Master Cale, I was hoping to discuss something with you,” she began.

“Business related? If so, we can go have a seat in of those tables over there—”

“That won’t be necessary!” She laughed nervously. Her eyes wandered to the side, her cheeks turning rosy by the second. Oh Cale could smell the trouble brewing trouble. “I was wondering…might you perhaps be seeing someone?” There it is.

“I’m sorry, but…why the sudden question?” He asked–though he didn’t really care what she had to say, it was to stall for a good response to come to his mind.

“Oh I was just curious, that's all!”

As if he’d believe that. He knew why the topic of his relationship status had been garnering attention. Ever since his grand heroic act, saving the royal family and the other territory’s leaders during the banquet a few months ago, his father had been receiving marriage offerings from all sorts of people; given how low his reputation was, they thought his father would have accepted to marry off his useless son, and in the process they would have gained his reputation. More political nonsense.

Unfortunately for them, he is already seeing someone.

Should he tell her? His relationship with you wasn’t known to the public. And although he would not want to involve you in politics for now, he did not want to lie about you either. Why do the gods like to shove him into annoying situations like this?

“Human…” His eyes glanced up discreetly to his right. A small-sized dragon floated close to his shoulder. “[Name] is giving you the sticky eyes again,” he pointed to the other side of the room, unamused by this.

Oh-uh.

His eyes slowly follow the trajectory of Raun’s long nail. There, in all the magnificent glory, was you.

The red fabric was adorning your frame nicely, not too tight to show the world whatever your body had to offer, and not too loose to look baggy. Your expensive heels clacked loudly as you tapped your left feet against the palace floors like a rabbit. You were glaring at his direction. Your attention wasn’t on him in particular. It was rather at the noblewoman that was with him at the moment. If looks could kill, he’d probably be witness to a bloody murder.

He better go to you while you are still in control of that demon. He shuddered at the thought of you snapping. 

“Master Cale?” the noblewomen called to him, concerned from his silence.

“Please excuse my manners, but I have to go. I have other business to attend to,” he smiled apologetically. He vowed slightly, “It was a pleasure meeting you. I hope to meet again someday,” that hope would only happen if the gods wished for her death by the hands of his lovely lady. He left before she could dig a greater grave.

He walked up to you, who was still glaring daggers at the confused noblewomen. “[Name]?” he called out. No response was given. “[Name]...” he called again. “[Name] please…” You gave him no mind and moved your face to the side, your brows still furrowed in annoyance. Cale could only frow.

Did that woman truly get under your skin, love? His eyes widened at an idea that crossed his mind.

“*sigh*... And here I was thinking of fetching some food my lady...” Your attention perked from the mention of food. Yet you still refuse to acknowledge him. “...I guess I’ll go with my lonesome since you don’t want anything…tis a shame, ” Cale said with a very sad voice and over dramatized expression. He turned to go to the food station.

3…2… Cale counted down. aaaand… he dragged as you stepped in front of him, 1. He smirked. Predictable as always. Your face still possessed the frown from before but with less bitterness and more pouty into it.

“...”

“...”

“...Can I come get food with you?” you asked, not bothering to look at him. You knew him. Well enough to know he had a smug expression splashed all over his eyes and mouth.

“Of course,” he extended his arm he knew you would take. As you made your way to the delicious temptations he leaned down and hovered right above your ear. “You know, you look cute when you're jealous.”

“Say another word and you're sleeping outside the manor.” He straightened, giving you a cheeky smile, and motioned his hand across his mouth like a zip to gesture you won’t hear anymore teasing from him for the rest of the night.

The ball faded into music, food, and a pouty lover.
