"We're going to fix this," Spock assured her, he could see she was struggling with his Vulcan DNA and everything that came with it. The overwhelmingly strong emotions, the telepathy and heightened senses. He empathised as being part Augment wasn't easy either.
The crew were doing their best to find a solution to the transporter glitch that resulted in La'an becoming half Vulcan, half Human while he inherited her Augment DNA.
"I just need you to hang in there in a little longer," he told her. He knelt before her and took one of her clenched hands into his. He reached his other up and gently brushed the tears off her face with his thumb.
"I don't know if I can, the noise of the ship, so many voices, too many emotions- I am drowning," she whispered in pained manner.
"La'an, look at me," he said softly, she looked at him and he could see how much she was suffering as she didn't have the benefit of his upbringing and years of mental training he had on Vulcan. He cupped her face, their eyes locked, "Just look at me, focus on me and nothing else," he told her.
"I can't-"
"You can, just focus me, mimic my breathing pattern and search for my voice in your mind, hear what I am thinking," he instructed her.
Slowly but surely, their breathing synced. He felt her presence wash through him like warm sunshine on an autumn day. The tendrils of her telepathy seeped through his mind. He thought of her, only her and how he wanted her with him. How he saw her so calm and relaxed, he projected all his desires to give her mental space where she could find her peace.
He felt her relax, her pain slowly fade away. He was so carried away in the sensations and emotions, he didn’t even realise they were intertwined in each other’s arms and kissing until La’an drew back. He missed the touch of her lips on his. Her eyes were hazy with desire. He wasn’t even sure who kissed whom first.
She looked at him, he felt her looking for permission but too afraid to ask out loud. He lifted his head up and kissed her, giving his consent. Passion exploded between them, her fingers dug desperately into his flesh. He held her tight as he was her tether in the storm, her light in the dark and he had no intention of letting her go.
