I just watched Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 and it helped me let go of the MCU. It was absolutely fantastic and made me cry. Like I know what happens to the characters that meant everything to me and I’m finally okay to let go.

Ive watched it since i was 6 years old but the Guardians are the last ones I truly cared about and I can let go now.

James Gunn gave me one last marvel film that didnt feel soulless - that didnt feel like it was made because that damned mouse demanded it. Instead I got a story that had a satisfying end to my favourite trilogy. Im so glad he reminded me why i loved this shit in the first place and im so excited to see what Gunn does in DC and what he does with Damian Wayne.

Thanks for almost 15 years and some amazing characters but the MCU isnt for me anymore and thats okay.

My opinion about Final Fantasy 16

There was a key scene last night and at 10pm I thought it worked out until it was bedtime (for the old man...)  At 11:30pm I was standing in front of the TV, controller in hand, watching with my mouth open at what I was being shown.

Final Fantasy feels like a visual novel where you have to fight some monsters from time to time. And it still doesn't get boring. The battles are action packed, intuitive, and just plain fun. Exploration of the world is divided into separate areas - similar to FF12 - and yet I don't miss the (sometimes possibility-overwhelming) open-world. Larger areas invite you to level up and explore hidden treasure chests.

The story is so wonderfully told and the whole setting including a toxic society leads me to say that this game may be my game of the year. Yes, I've also played Horizon and Hogwarts Legacy, but Final Fantasy has held a very special place with me since 1999. (My first one was FF8 and I see so many easter eggs in 16...) If the end credits had rolled across the screen after last night's epic battle, I wouldn't have even been mad. It all feels so well rounded. Attentive to detail. Beautifully told dramaturgically. And I'm just barely at 30%. I'm very excited to see what's to come and how they're going to top it all.  

My conclusion is clear: The wait for Final Fantasy 16 was worth it. Well done, Square Enix and every working on this wonderful game!

Silo on AppleTV+

With the season finale having been release on 30th of June, it is now possible to binge Silo on AppleTV+. If you enjoy themes of mystery, (found) family, post-apocalyptic society this show is up your alley. With a diverse cast of all ages and ethnicities, Silo is about an underground community, living in what they call the Silo, who cannot leave lest they wish to die of the poison air outside. Our protagonist is the Sheriff, both of them.

The story first detours through the eyes of Sheriff Holston Becker who has an ideal life: a good career, a smart wife whom he loves dearly, and permission to have a child. Our first episode concludes with our first sheriff in a very different place. What I will share is that their legal structure is laid out in something called the Pact. There is one law above all others that is always upheld: If someone asks to go outside, they must go outside.

Our second Sheriff, Juliette Nichols, replaces Holston soon into the season. She is intense, hard-headed and intelligent. Her curiosity becomes a driving factor for the rest of the season, setting her on a path to learn more about their underground home and possibly the world beyond it as well. She is surrounded by themes of family, courage to the point of recklessness and social class. The Silo they live in is 144 floors, and the Upper, Mids and Down Deep have some tension despite each providing crucial skills and products.

General take-aways: strong female characters, complicated family relations, love is present across multiple storylines and the soundtrack does a wonderful job keeping you on the edge of your seat.

I haven’t finished Ari and Dante yet, but got through the first two big chapters(about 1/3rd of the way through) 

So far its already a masterpiece in writing, emotions, development between the characters and relationships, not to mention its hilarious! I already laughed like 10 times. I can’t get enough of the parents and Ari/Dante’s interactions. No spoilers in this post, just wanted to say how I felt so far and I’m loving every page. Ready to finish at least another 1/3rd of the book by the end of the weekend.
