Sponsorblock is ultimately a great boon to humanity

But you occasionally register that you are evaluating your favorite content creators without considering what they are willing to say or support for the right price.

It's a bit like trying to judge one's parent or spouse without ever knowing what they did during The War.

But lowkey, turning content creators into parasocial ad-peddlers was one of capitalism's downgrades of the online experience.

fyi sponsorblock is entirely community organized, meaning every segment marked with it was marked by another user, so if no one else with the extension has watched a video before it might be on you to mark any annoying segments you come across (and it does also mean that ever so often you'll come across badly marked segments, which you can luckily just downvote and disable on your end
