WIP | now that death will grow my jasmine
Elain landed facing a beautiful trellis covered in ivy, but then immediately groaned under the weight of the male’s body. She started to turn to place him on the flat ground of the courtyard. She jumped when she turned around. Azriel was lounging on a wicker chaise, his arms crossed, humming to himself in the dark. His shadows rolled lazily along his wings.
“Wife,” he greeted her, in a tone that was half-amused, half-accusatory.
Elain crossed her arms, dropping the body she was supporting at her feet. “Husband,” she answered sweetly, as if they weren’t surrounded by four dead bodies of grown fae males in the dead of night in her garden.
He raised a brow as his beautiful lips twitched. “Care to explain?”
Elain gave him her prettiest smile as she dusted off her hands. “Explain what?”
Azriel gestured to the four dead bodies between them. “I came home from a mission in the middle of the night to find no wife, but three dead bodies in the garden. My shadows had quite a fright when they found them.”
Elain narrowed her eyes at him. “They did not,” she muttered.
Slowly, like lovely wraiths from a hell-realm, the witches appeared. (qos)
I haven’t been able to shake this quote since the witch series. How amazing would it be if we see Elain, a powerful seer and witch, peer into and/or travel to Hel like a wraith with her friends Nuala and Cerridwen? I’m so ready for all of their spooky adventures and missions together.
