Elain, Nuala, and Cerridwen

I really want to see a deep dive into this friendship that’s been quietly developing behind the scenes. I’m completely convinced the twins are behind Elain’s subtle changes—her sudden, silent appearances, and the way she keeps secrets even better than Azriel (ahem, spy squad, ahem). I’ve adjusted the color palettes a bit, but honestly, the vibes from Elain’s story make me feel like she could be the darkest one, haha—considering the whole espionage angle, the visions (which, if you think about it, are genuinely creepy—no wonder horror movies like Final Destination or Premonition exist), the villain Koschei, and that terrifying lake…

Day 5: Connections

“Elain. . . had found a place, a role here. Tending to the gardens of Feyre’s veritable palace on the river, helping other residents of Velaris restore their own destroyed gardens— she had purpose, and joy, and friends: those two half-wraiths who worked in Rhysand’s household. I am so looking forward to getting to know Elain’s friends Nuala and Cerridwen in her book! They have been such a shadowy presence in the background since book 1 and I can’t wait to find out more about them and the dynamic between them and Elain.

Wtf is wrong with people? It’s the first time N&C have a week dedicated to them. There isn’t even a book about them yet. I didn’t see Valkyrie stans hyping up Emerie Week this year nearly as much as they’re talking about N&C Week right now. Let people have fun. They organized it this year so it can properly grow and be bigger next year with the new books in between.

Y’all are so jobless it’s concerning. Calling the wraiths “servants” all the time and making fun of them? Are you this bitter toward servants in real life too? Is it a job people should feel ashamed of? Must be nice to live such a privileged life. But these two are also spies mind you. They’ve been in Acotar since book 1… some characters can’t relate

Cerridwen 🪻

Headcanons:

She appreciates fine jewelry and has a growing collection of perfumes from across Prythian and the Continent

Prides herself on being the more fashion forward sister and designs most of the outfits and styling for the Inner Circle

Proficient with daggers, can hit a moving target from 10 meters consistently

More soft spoken and reserved than her twin

Has curly hair and loves trying new ways to style it

She is older than Nuala by three minutes but lets her sister believe otherwise

Day 5: Nuala Day

I'm so excited for more Elriel, Nuala, and Cerridwen content, as well as fanart of the trio, once ACOTAR 6 and 7 come out.

Canonically , Nuala and Cerridwen are valued and highly trusted by the IC including the High Lord , Rhysand . They were the only ones UTM with him , btw . They have a bond with the High Lady, are spies that are highly trusted and valued by the spymaster and are also bestfriends of Elain , the seer of the IC .

Even seperately , they are extremely powerful and only little of that is contributed to their shadow wraith powers

Think about that , the next time any of you want to put them down to uplift an actaully irrelevant group of individuals

Cerridwen and Gwion

In Welsh mythology Cerridwen is an important goddess and the keeper of the cauldron.

In one story a boy called Gwion was tasked with stirring a potion she was brewing in it when he ended up swallowing some, granting him the gift of wisdom. He ran away but Cerridwen pursued him. Gwion used his new gift to transform himself into various animals to try to escape her but Cerridwen always transformed herself into a corresponding predator and continued to chase him. When he became a hare she became a greyhound. When he became a fish she became an otter. When he became a bird she became a hawk. Finally when he became a grain of wheat she became a hen and swallowed him. This led to him being reborn from her and becoming the legendary bard Taliesin.

This story demonstrates Cerridwen's role as a goddess that guides people through necessary if unpleasant transformations and helps lead them to a better version of themselves.

So far in the books we have seen Cerridwen be instrumental in helping Elain adjust to her transformation and I look forward to seeing how she will continue to help guide her into embracing her new abilities in the next books.
