Superman and Batman vs. Vampires and Werewolves #2 (2009)
The Robin suit behind Batman in it's glass case struck me as very intentional. I figure it's probably just there to prime the audience for when Nightwing walks in like "Remember this guy? He used to be Robin."
But then I had another thought, and I'd like you to come on this journey with me:
It's one year after the events of Under the Red Hood. Batman has methodically traced his prodigal son's footsteps back to the league of assassins, back to the convalescent home, all the way back to the very dirt he dug himself out of.
But not even Batman knows what mysterious power has brought Jason Todd back from the grave.
But now there's a different mystery at hand. There's a vampire in Gotham City, and all the evidence seems to indicate that this guy is the real deal. An honest to God, blood-thirsty, undead vampire.
It is immediately after Bruce has this revelation that we see the Robin suit standing so prominently in the panel. But it's not just any Robin suit. It's Jason's Robin suit that is standing over his shoulder, and it's Jason who is lurking in the back of his mind.
I'm not saying Jay is a vampire, but maybe for just a moment, it was a possibility that Bruce wasn't able to immediately dismiss. Stranger things have happened!
