Hey Beanheads. I was awake all night because working the Packers game on Thursday totally screwed up my sleep schedule. I slept into the early evening yesterday, and now I'm just going through the day in a kind of haze. My mind is playing tricks on me. It doesn't help that we got Spooky Steve and his ghastly son Owen at the Riverside today. They're on some kind of book tour or something. Or maybe it has to do with that clown movie in theaters right now? I'll admit I actively avoided finding out what this is really about because I don't want to have nightmares.
After moving seats today I went to the mall. I think there is another eatery in the food court that has closed down, but for the life of me I couldn't tell you which one. I think once they close, they just stop existing. It's like they never existed at all. The Game was alone today at the Qdoba. The rice scoop was a little small, but I became grateful for that upon eating it, because it was sharp and crunchy. The bean scoops were generous. The pinto bean scoop surprised me, because all I could see was a shallow bit of brown liquid in the little pan. I doubted they had any pinto beans at all until he pulled a spoonful out of that dark water. The pan of veggies looked worse than ever. When we got to that part, I was debating even getting any, but I figured I had to. The Game looked at the pan and asked if I wanted some fresh ones, and that it would only take a minute. I decided that was worth it. He went back to the kitchen and fired up a burner, and then he grabbed a big 3 gallon tupperware out of a cooler and threw some veggies into the pan. I'm glad I waited. The new vegetables looked great. There wasn't much lettuce left in the pan, and it didn't look the greatest. He asked if I wanted more fresh lettuce, but it's just lettuce, so I didn't make him go get more for me this time. I thought I was only going to get one little scoop of guacamole, since that's all that was left in the pan, but then he got a fresh pan of guac out of the cooler and threw another 2 scoops on.
This wasn't a particularly heavy burrito, but the weight came from beans and guacamole, which I believe are the most desirable of components. It was well constructed, but that rice was pretty not fun to have in my mouth. I believe The Game as just doing the best he could with what he had. The Grand Avenue Qdoba on the weekends so close to closing time can be really hit or miss.
