Although I see why the comments for Other Mommy being all like "CORALINE LIVE ACTION???" and other comments of the sort (not just cuz the title but both have similar-ish plots), I'd like for y'all to know that Other Mommy is actually an adaptation of the book Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman!
Why they went for the name Other Mommy instead of using the book's actual name? Idk. If I had to guess, it was either because of a marketing reason (like if they thought the movie would do better if they just made the entity's name the title) (maybe calling it "Incidents Around the House" would have implied a completely different narrative??) or maybe it was a reason similar to why the movie adaptation of The Body was called Stand By Me (a crew member being like "hey what if we called it this instead")
Kiefer Sutherland and River Phoenix inadvertently influenced the Stephen King adaptation Stand by Me getting its title.
Either way, having read a summary of the book's plot, I have a feeling I know how the movie's gonna end (but at the same time I feel like they may change it idk) AND OH BOY I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE PEOPLE'S REACTIONS TO HOW THIS ENDS.
