Little feet move quietly through the house. A tiny bag clutched tightly between small fingers. Alexander does his best to be as quiet as he can (though he’s never been particularly quiet), because he doesn’t want anyone to ask what is in this bag. It is too important and he doesn’t want it getting locked away in a cabinet somewhere. After all, he worked really hard for it.
Those same little legs hoist him onto his twin sister’s small bed. He puts a finger to his mouth, making it clear that Lexus has to be quiet. Not get too excited. If she does, Jamie might hear them and take the bag. Or get their mother to.
“You gotta be quiet, hermanita,” he murmurs. At seven years old, Alexander has already learned the value of hard work...and it’s sitting in his little brown bag. He opens to show her two handfuls of candy that he earned by taking out the garbage at a nearby shop. “I worked real hard f’this, so don’t eat it all at once!”
