What I originally thought was a clump of late douglas crest turned out to be the water loving spring crest. Although it’s common in the eastern half of the United States, It’s not that common in my home town of Ohio and honestly prefers geoswells and fens that my state has in limited supply. Since it’s associated with spring bound beds or fen habitats it is a good predictor of an area with great surface hydrology and other plants associated with them. I can only imagine what parts of this area look like during Spiranthes season.
