Crown Tournament Recap
Lord Richard did AMAZING for his first Crown. I was, and still am, incredibly proud of him, especially knowing that he has been sick for the few weeks leading up to it. He wanted to fight this one to get the nerves out of the way so that he could buckle down and focus on the next one. I told him that as long as he wishes to fight, I will support him. He is a good fighter, and a great man, and a wonderful friend.
This year, His Majesty wanted a BIG Crown and so there were (I believe) 39 who entered. They did four round-robins: breaking the fighters into four lists, and then having them all fight each other once. The top two from each group then moved on to the Semi’s. Richard fought well and won 3 of his 9 fights - though the ones he lost were not easily done. He has an AWESOME defense.
At one point, he was up against a Shire friend, Lord Eckehard. Because they fight regularly at practice, they both knew each other and so they stood facing each other - neither moving - for a solid minute. Lady Jane (Eckehard’s consort) and I were standing next to each other, watching them. Finally I asked if they were making plans for dinner later tonight and told them, “Yes! He will go with you to prom! Now hit each other!”
My Knight, Earl Robert, when into the Semi’s undefeated. He lost one and advanced to the finals where IT. WAS. EPIC. He lost against Duke (?) Ragnar Blackhammer after fighting their bout a second time, at the request of Ragnar who could not in good conscience accept a call made by the Marshal’s in his favor. To make it an honorable win, he asked to fight again and Robert accepted, losing the bout again.
Amos le Pius won the Crown. Earl Robert and Lord Richard will fight again in the Fall, and I get to do it all over again. And I am stupidly excited for it.
I am a Consort for Crown this spring. The Head of my Household (who my fighter is also Squired to) has decided that he will be fighting in Spring Crown as well. They’re already starting to poke each other about it. I feel like I need to get them a gauntlet in our household colors to throw at each other at practices.

tired as fuck, but excited for SPRING!
It's not an SCA roadtrip without Bojangles.
And for those NOT from Seareach, the proper pronunciation is Bow-Han-Glayz.
