I made some fresh bouquets this morning. Then I saw this area where the chocolate chip ajuga is taking over. So I potted some up for the stand. I'm going to try to pot up a lot of other perennials that need to be thinned out. I love the sun so much I wanna marry it 😍

Ive been spending most of my energy and non-raining outdoor time the last 3 weeks sifting my massive compost pile and spreading it throughout the garden.

Ive finally run out and am most of the way through remaking the pile, so I decided to slow down and actually appreciate how much the garden has exploded in that time

My perennial flowers planted last year, among several varieties of potato coming up. Planted snap peas but they were defoliated immediately, I'll try some more soon

A whole wall of various kale types, all gone to flower and seed for the early pollinators. Lots of this winter crop will be cleared for seed and space soon, but its gorgeous and bright and so many early greens options rn

Turnip gone to flower, curly parsley, more fava - I planted them everywhere to have a nice network of their nitrogen-fixating root nodules all around and for rich composting. More garlic and kale, some blackberries I need to reign in behind them

Those raspberries and salmonberries that were just trimmed sticks a month or two ago are full of leaves now, and Im already getting Artichokes in

Really proud of how the cumulative effort Ive put in can produce such a vibrant and colorful garden even in the earliest parts of spring, despite things like my taking weeks and weeks to distribute and catch up with the compost

Genista pilosa (creeping broom)

Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) is an invasive species in my part of the world and can easily grow two meters tall (6ft) but this little creeping broom is a much smaller member of the genus Genista and rarely exceeds 30cm (12 inches). Here some creative gardener has planted one as an attractive groundcover between the sidewalk and a busy street. Broom plants in general are as tough as nails and I think this location really uses the natural talents of this species very effectively.

These are my favourite tulip, Barcelona, sold by Bloms Bulbs (no commission for mentioning them sadly!). Bloms advised me to grow tulips in pots as slug damage to the bulbs when they were planted in the flowerbed was causing the plants to grow distorted. So I plant them in pots and move them into position as they come into flower. I am so pleased with this method, but as tulip heads are fragile, it’s not wise to give the pots too long a journey to get into position!

Bean Teepee

We made a bean tipi out of discarded aluminum poles. It's quite simple to make it. Just tie the poles on top and bury them a little bit in the soil so they are stable.

We made the tipi first and then prepared the soil around it for the beans. It can be made the other way around too, so the poles will be right in the planting soil. Ours left out a bit far from the poles.

After beans sprouted we wrapped cotton yarn around the poles so beans can easily climb up.

Now it's time to wait!

Fasulye Tipisi

Kullanılmayan alüminyum sopalarla bir fasulye çadırı yaptık.

Yapması oldukça kolay.Sopaları tepeden bağlayın ve alt kısımlarını birazcık toprağa gömün ki yerinde sağlamca dursun.

Biz önce sopaları sabitleyip sonrasında toprağı ekim için hazırladık.Ama tam tersi de yapılabilir ve sopalar ekim toprağına sabitlenebilir. Bizim toprağımız sopalardan biraz uzakta kaldı, ama hafif bir yönlendirmeyle fasulyeleri sardırabiliriz.

Fasulyeler filizlendikten sonra sopaların etrafına pamuklu ip doladık ki fasulyeler kolayca tırmansınlar.
