Examining the soil is the 1st thing you need to do. It will give you an idea what the soil needs to be able to maintain it’s healthy condition to grow. Lawn care specialists are trained very well in assessing the soil especially in giving custom mix fertilizer to supply the needs of your lawn.
Rake the Lawn to Clean the Surrounding Areas
Waste that is left from the winter can cause some of the grass not to get the needed nutrients from the sunlight in order to grow. Make sure to clean and rake the lawn from any dirt. It also benefits the lawn by elevating the grass to make it ready to grow.

Water Deeply but Not as Often
Water the lawn deeply for about 1-2 inches of water. Do this at least once a week to moisturize the grass and encourages deep root development. The best time to water the lawn is in the morning or before the heat touches the grass. If rainfall is predictable, you don’t need to water it for that day.

Do Not Use Any Poison on Your Lawn
When poison is being used in the lawn most of the time, it will only bring harm than good. This is because poisons consist of harsh chemicals that can eventually kill the one you’re after, affect the grass and cause it to burn.
Do not Fertilize Straightaway
We know that fertilizing the lawn is good but if you’ve done this in the fall season, then you don’t need to reapply it again after the winter. As a matter of fact, it’s suggested to wait until the 1st week of May which can be the right time to fertilize the lawn since the soil will be warmer during these days and absorb the nutrients effectively.
Do not Mix Fertilizer with a Poison
Never mix the fertilizer with a poison. As mentioned above, applying too many chemicals can cause burn on the lawn. However, if you need to use a poison, the application must be based according to the fertilizer and use a small amount of poison. Either it could be a week control and insect control.
